Very brief opening from the North in AL

Traveling home through Tuskegee, AL @ 4:15PM I'm searching through the stations to hear some possible DX. It was a very hot day all up and down the East Coast, making conditions favorable for some decent E-skip.

It was VERY brief opening, no more than 45 seconds, when I had stopped on 95.5 and heard a Top40 station. Thinking it was 95.5 The Beat Atlanta via tropo (125 miles), I listened for an ID. Nope, "Keep listening for your next chance to win...only on 95 Triple-X."

WXXX 95.5 Burlington, VT 25,000W ~1100 miles

About 10 seconds after the ID, the station dropped completely into the static. I searched for other spots on the dial, but all was dead after that.
