Very impress with 94-1 KTFM

As many of you all know, I have bashed this station way too many times. But I must say, I am very impress with the sound of KTFM. I like the KTFM jingles but most of all I love the playlist adjustments they've made over the past few weeks.

Anyhow, props to KTFM.

I've noticed the same thing. Their playlist has gotten better over the past couple weeks. Thanks god! We needed another hits station!

Yeah but do you guys see them making it official? Or do you see them hanging round in limbo and an in between kinda station?

KTFM really hasn't done anything official with their changes since they've been on the 94.1 frequency. Each format tweak/adjustment has been gradual.

I'm betting they will go back to Hot AC before to long

That's highly unlikely since the Hot AC format didn't work for them. This is also the reason why they shifted from Hot AC to Chr Top 40. While I still like Mix, I prefer KTFM because of the limited repeats and the recurrents that Mix doesn't play.

Needless to say, the PPM's will be very interesting.

Shouldn't that title and statement read, "Very impressed......" instead of the current typo. As for that station and its format, yuck! Having been forced to listen to crap of that sort, due to being the only male employee in the office, besides the only one in building, who was at his/her proper weight to height ratio (and still am), it was excrutiating to have the queen sow of the herd decide what everyone was going to have to listen to. I must say, some of that noise helped those diet-challenged 2 ton single parents keep tempo while inhaling those bags of breakfast tacos.

I actually liked the Hot AC that they were playing because a lot of songs were newer ones that Magic or Mix never played. We need a Hot AC channel that's more modern like Mix 96.5 in Houston or 94.1 in las vegas. That's the direction that KTFM was taking up until recently till they changed to top 40. Too bad. Once again, just stuck with Magic for hot ac and they play more 80's and stuff that's already played out. Typical San Antonio.

I agree with you about Magic (Cox Again).

They never really put the Hot in Hot AC now have they?

Boring.

They swear by the music research (yawn) that those are the most loved songs by women in San Antonio.

I ask...2 things.

Where are they getting the songs on the list to test?
Where are they finding the women to test?

They have gotten newer but....well YOU LISTEN.

I think its great that KTFM is making the slowwww progression to Top 40/CHR.

I think my problem with Mix 96.1 is that I HATE the moniker "Mix." ... Maybe it if was called WiLD 96-1, I would have thought different.

Heres another point I want to make- Both KTFM and KJXK are owned by Border Media. And KJXK is at 102.7 while KTFM is at 94.1. Wouldn't it be a great idea of BMP decided to switch the frequencies of both stations?

This would mean that KJXK would be 94.1 Jack FM, and KTFM would be at its old home frequency 102.7, and can go back to calling themselves 102.7 of 103 KTFM! :)

I like that idea of moving KTFM back to 102.7 however; KTFM would need to provider better PPM numbers in order to justify a frequency swap with Jack. IMO, KTFM is now on the right track.

True that could be a possibility, however with the success of Jack I don't think BMP would flip the stations like that. Also, 94.1 has attempted in the past to rekindle the 102.7 glory days by using former 102.7 jocks... even using the old color logo. Who honestly knows if those quirks have been successful in regaining some of the old listeners.

As far as Mix is concerned, they do not have a bad moniker. It used to be "Mix 96.1 San Antonio's Number 1 Hit Music Station"

Today, they no longer use that. I do not know about anyone else, but when I think of a Wild station I think of a Rhy or urban format.

Well... It would help me too for a frequency change. The closest I can currently get KTFM from where I am at, is if I drive south of San Marcos on I 35, while I can still pick up KJXK in Buda, even though its with static.

As far as Mix, I don't like the moniker for a CHR/Top 40 station. When I think of "Mix", I think of Adult Contemp or Hot AC.

When I think of CHR/Top 40, I think of WiLD, Z100, Q100, Kiss FM, Channel 9-5-5, stuff like that.

Take up "Hot 96.1" before KTFM does. Use similar imaging as Hot 95.7 in Houston.

????what????

lol

I don't think KTFM will ever change in this city. BMP already went well out their way to purchase the use of those legendary call letters. They aren't going to do anything to take away from it. For example like adopting HOT in this case.
