And as I said, I call what I do "The Eighties Channel™" because the audience perceives the non-80's songs as being from that decade.

Freddy Snakeskin tells me KROQ's audience used to think the same about the 70's songs in their library back in the day when they called themselves "Roq Of The 80's".

Although it remains a strict rule at SiriusXM, where you can hear Three Dog Night's "Easy to Be Hard" and "One" only on '60s Gold, and the same band's "Mama Told Me Not to Come" and "Joy to the World" only on '70s Gold. The '50s channel used to play pre-Beatles '60s hits as well, but the '50s and '60s channels are now completely segregated by year. The single-decade concept was Lee Abrams', I believe. I'm surprised it remains as inflexible as it does nearly a quarter-century later.

The '10s spot and 2K vary a little bit. Throwback 2K with Chris Cruz goes quite a ways into the 2010s. But I think segregating by year is good if you want it to fully capture the decades sound, but give or take a year or so, but not more.

Bee Gees is quintessential 70s and Spice Girls is late 90s. If its like 1979 or 1991 it makes sense.
