VH format progress

This would be great for the www.varietyhits.com website to have- a running ratings report on each V.H. station. It would be a sort-of one-stop overview of how each V.H. station is progressing ratings-wise.

Thoughts? Lou?

I'd like to see ratings listed, but of course Lou Pickney would have to have permission from Arbitron to do that. For what he's doing, it's great as it is. I was however disappointed to see that the Nine FM trimulcast isn't listed for the Chicago market. But of course, 2 of the signals could easily be listed for Chicago, while WDEK would be best listed separate as it serves very little of the Chicago far western suburbs. I don't know how many stations there are overall, but it's growing, whether it's Jack, Mike, Bob, or some other name.
 
You really need to know what you're talking about if you're to present it as fact. WDEK covers about 2 million people in the western suburbs, crystal clear. Last time I checked, that's a bit larger than most of the Jack's covering in markets like Nashville etc. WDEK. Nine is a failure for the same reason Jack is a faiure in Chicago. No one cares.

Too early to call Jack-Chicago a failure, sour grapes and bitter beer face source notwithstanding. Several hundred thousand of radio listeners every week cume Jack in Chicago, so SOMEBODY cares.

We know you don't, which is why it's such a mystery why you spend so much time obsessing about criticizing Jack.

It's called, "I got replaced by a Jack, the radio industry is passing me by and I'm old & tired & frustrated and just don't know what to do except piss on everybody else's parade".

Remember, the main adaptor of this format is a company whose properties are now worth about about one half of what they paid for them. If that's what you mean by radio passing me by, then maybe you're right.

Lou has stated that he believes that Nine's playlist is *too* wide to be considered a VH station. Take it up with him.

CBS reminds me of my hillbilly neighbors. And JACK reminds me of the coat of paint they put on their aluminum siding last summer. For awhile, it looked better than what was there, but eventually, it will look like crap again.

Unfortunately, in radio's case as in my case, lack of wherewithall reflects poorly on adjacent properties.

Except you hosers don't ever mention that the Jack/V.H. format is measured as successful by RADIO LISTENERS in most markets where the format is on.

Critics don't determine who's successful- listeners do and listeners (according to the ratings) are giving the VH format a big thumbs-up in most markets.

Talk about leg humping and taliwhackers all you want- radio listeners could care less what you think and I'm with THEM.
