VH1 Classic has officially....

jumped the shark. I seen it coming for the last few years and knew that it, being a product of Viacom, would eventually subdue to going against it's mission. Married with Children on VH1 Classic? Really?

So good to know there's someone designated to declare what is or isn't "officially" earning such a meaningless distinction. :)

Remember when VH1 was a great place to watch videos for the "older crowd"? It is so bad now I didn't know it was still on the air.

AH, the days of Miami Sound Machine and Michael Bolton videos. I wonder why that didn't stand the test of time? :D

I just hope TheCool TV doesn't do this next! My guess is that nobody else watches them, because I never see a local ad on that station. I receive their station here via WCTX-TV channel 59-2 of New Haven.

If I read FRR correctly, he was refering to videos from artists like Van Halen, Pearl Jam and Motley Crew that skew too old to be appropriate for today's MTV audience. These types of videos were recently being shown on "VH1 Classic" and indeed appeal to the "older crowd," meaning the 40-somethings that used to watch MTV in the '80s. I believe the Michael Bolton and Miami Sound Machine videos to which imhomerjay refers were shown on the '80s and '90s incarnation of VH1 and were appropriate when the network's purpose was to serve as an Adult Contemporary outlet.

And the '80s kids can watch, oh, let's see...the two hours of videos first thing in the morning, the two-hour '80s block, four hours of metal programming, or another block of '80s videos...and that's just today's schedule. My goodness, they happen to have one hour of the day airing an '80s sitcom. The horror of it all.

But that's the beginning of it homer. One hour turns into....

And if it does better for the bottom line, it should turn to two...if not, it turns to so ething else.

I guess they need a new outlet to show it, now that Antenna TV has put it on hiatus...

That show has been on every Viacom network they own why? It was fine on Comedy Central a few years ago. Is it the ratings? As far as that channel goes I thought VH1 Classic was leaning towards rock?

I agree with you, but I guess I was a little shocked to see it wind up on VH1 Classic.

I always wait for the official call before I change my tv settings.
Now that I know there is no hope...I'm JTSing it as we speak.

1. Someone here reported that it even aired on CMT...

2. Does anyone know if the episode that aired was the "My Dinner With Anthrax" episode?

It was the band. Here is a link to some recent articles about them:
