VH1 SOUL TO BECOME THE RYAN SEACREST NETWORK?

Wont be a lost. Centric could expand their video block during the day since its filled with endless sitcoms reruns from the The WB and UPN networks. Not to mention MTV has MTV 2 which is a mess and VH1 main channel is halfway black with that reality crap on Sunday and Monday nights.

I think I have to disagree that it wouldn't be a loss since it's one of the few networks that doesn't assume African-American music isn't just moronic rap and 35 videos a week featuring Chris Brown.

VH1 Soul actually has some pretty good videos and artists on it and they made it little watched by never promoting it at all! You can't attract an audience by just being "there".

The economics of the deal are lousy, we don't even what programming (outside of concerts at the Staples Center on tape) will air, and it's going to be stuck with cable positions even worse than barrel-scraper G4. Also, quite a few cable operators have been looking at OWN and are sure to be wary of what SeacrestNet can do in the ratings for the money as they already see that celebrity+network does not equal profit and ratings.

I don't even see this channel on DirecTV.

Does he think he can run the Kardashians 24/7 and succeed? Doesn't he see the trouble
Oprah is having (and she is a lot more popular than him)? GOOD LUCK with that is all I can say.

I agree its a good channel that showcases Urban Adult music but with the channels we have now dedicated to African Americans and with the arrival of Bounce TV later this fall the void could be easily filled. Centric would be a perfect choice since they showcase videos in the early mornings they can expand it during the day. Would love for them to bring back Midnight Love and Video Soul. But the Viacom, Seacrest deal money talks. Would'nt be easy for him to take over Style TV since its sister network is E?

I was just joking to myself this morning how we could solve high unemployment in this country by simply limiting the number of shows that Ryan Seacrest and Dr. Drew host...

AEG would be foolish to make this a Ryan Seacrest ONLY network. Sure, he could be a presence, as he certainly is a brand unto himself like Oprah, but I don't think his ego is as big as Oprah's or AEG's intent is to have the RSN.

Maybe Ryan Seacrest's new network can merge with Justin Timberlake's Myspace and call it "Our."
