HOT 97's jocks are not allowed to communicate with anybody at POWER. That means no social media likes, friends, followers and they're not allowed to do the same events with POWER jocks.
Something like that is a human rights abuse and the same thing as slavery, in my opinion, whenever a human wants to have any sort of control or influence whatsoever over another human outside of work hours.
I chose to not ever pursue getting a job in radio, after being scared by reading stories on the Internet about format flips and layoffs, syndication and voicetracking, and so on. So maybe there is something about this Hot 97 story that I don't know and I'm overreacting. But from what I know and from my basic sense of right and wrong, your boss should have no say over your personal life or Internet life. There are people out there who like to bully, intimidate, and control other people. We need to stand up to them and demand control over our own personal lives. If your work day is supposed to be over at 4:30PM, then you should be allowed to walk out of the door at 4:30PM (and not at 4:35PM or 4:40PM!) and have control over your own life.
The employees at Hot 97 should be allowed to talk to whoever they want to talk to, in my opinion.
Sorry for the little mini-rant, but the idea of a person controlling another person in such a way really touched a nerve. Don't let anyone tell you for a second that you should just be grateful to have a job. Human rights and freedom of association should exist everywhere, including in the workplace. And if you suspect that you're being kept down on purpose because someone thinks that you're stupid or plain doesn't like you, speak up about that and maybe even consider looking for a different job.
I do not live in the U.S. I'll have to check and see if this Gossip Game show is carried by any TV channels where I live. If so, I'll be sure to check it out sometime.
