VHF radio question

Someone asked me a question today and I did not know how to answer it so I will present it to you, she was an avid listener of her soaps at work and now she said her VHF radio will not pick up the audio since the switch to Digital HD. Is there a way she can receive them with her current radio or should she purchase a new radio or are they gone from those radios for good...thanks in advance...

No, older TV sound radios won't work with digital -- and to my knowledge nobody makes a digital TV sound radio.

Don't really know of a good option for listening at work. One could buy a DTV converter box and an adaptor and play the sound through computer speakers. You'd have to connect it to a TV for long enough to get it programmed. And you'd be changing channels "blind" - though being able to directly punch in numbers with the remote that probably wouldn't be a problem.

I have 2 Sony Watchmans. The 1st one, an older black & white small CRT. The 2nd one, a small color one. Both battery operated and now both useless unless I plug a converter box into it.
