VHF TV

Does anybody actually watch the low power VHF channels? I purchased a new antenna today and put it on the roof. Several new channels scanned in. Channel 4, 5, 6, 10 and 12. Twelve has a news channel. Four and six are the same music programming. The others are garbage. All pixelate bad. I thought the low channels were supposed to go to an expanded FM radio band?

When I lived in the Northside I used to pick up channel 10,15,28,30,34,. Now that I live on Rankin does channels don’t exist anymore .

Channels 10 (KUVM-LD) and 12 (KHLM-LD) are actually from the same RF10 transmitter, just mapped to different channel numbers.

There is nothing in Houston that would map to channel 4. I had read elsewhere that KAHO had made a return, after last being seen for tests in 2015...it is on RF4 but supposedly maps to virtual 23...is that what you saw? Or might it have been KBTV in Beaumont which maps to Channel 4 but is on RF15...but we have KVVV-LD on RF15 here in Houston which would block it...hmmm...

KBTV is on RF27, not 15. That's KFDM...Damn, I hate virtual channels..

Identifies on screen as 4.1 KAHO and 6.9 KCVH.

You are absolutely right, I transposed the RF channels while looking at RabbitEars.info.

However there is the KQHO/KBPX share on RF27 here in Houston that would block KBTV (Virtual 4) unless tropo from the east was really strong.
I hate virtual channels..
Kind of stuck with them, as RF channels above 36 have been reallocated for other uses...and changing station channel brandings would have resulted in massive viewer confusion. Imagine "Local 2" suddenly becoming "Local 35"...

The FCC database has no info on KAHO's virtual channel number. RabbitEars.info has it as virtual 23, but perhaps the station has changed to virtual 4 to match the actual RF4. But it does appear KAHO has returned.

RabbitEars doesn't list a 6.9 under KCVH...only a .1 and .2. Are there any other subchannels on virtual 6?

Unable to answer your question. I have not been able to catch channel 6 (other than occasional pixel glitter) since all this wet weather arrived. Channel 4 is also really hard to pick up, too. I have to point the.antenna north to get it, and when I do that most.of.the channels coming from Missouri City disappear.

Any updates needed to RabbitEars on some of those low-VHF stations would be very much appreciated, if you can provide such information.

KHLM is being sold to the Christian Television Network out of Clearwater, Florida. CTN has three program streams that I assume will wind up as different 12.X subchannels. Unknown whether the current NewsNet feed on 12.1 will be dropped, or remain in addition to the forthcoming religious programming.

The KHLM sale to CTN might have closed, as there is now English language religion on 12.1 and Spanish language religion on 12.2. No other 12.x subchannels, so appears NewsNet is gone.

No changes that I noticed on the KUVM-LD 10.x subchannels coming from the same shared transmitter.

Has anybody gotten RF 2-6 recently? I drove near all of them besides 2 and found out KCVH is broadcasting but with no channels? It’s not ATSC 3.
