VIBE Vegas 94.5 KVBE Transmitter

Anyone know when or if they are getting their new stick that was discussed previously. I have been listening to this station for the past month and it would be spectacular to see it succeed with a full (or mostly)market signal - or at the very least see the results of a true dance station in a major market.

Could do without the Bail me outta jail ads, but considering they are 58 minutes or more commercial free, I'm not really complaining..

PS: If you want the MP3 stream, it is still available - don't have to listen thru their player..

I like Vibe Vegas to be honest.... But its up to the FCC to decide when they can get their Vegas translator on air... The PD posts here at times and has full confidence that the station will succeed when the repeater is set up.. Hopefully he will respond...

PS... Whats wrong with the Bail Bond Adds... Ive had to be bailed out before,,, that doesnt make us bad people,,, people get arrested for stupid petty crimes in the U.S all the time when the real crminals run loose... I was arrested for DUI on suspicion and I blew a double 0 on the breathalizer,, the blood tests revealved precription drugs,, which I get LEGIt from my DOC. Besides that,, why knock the very first company that is giving them support and earning them some cash flow.... Z1035 Toronto has Bail Bond Adds,, and DUI and speeding Ticket Adds too.... Doesnt make us bad people...... I rarely drink at all,,, and definately dont drive if I have,,,, and I am very much against Illegal street drugs.... not all dance fans are XTC freaks like the media makes us out to be.....

I was listening to Vibe Vegas recently.

The stick where it is now has the range that could be clearly listened to near St. George, UT

If you can move just South West 10 miles down, it would be clearer in Las Vegas, NV.

Midwest: I don't have anything against whoever the bail bond ads are targetting - IMHO, it just seems like the ads that they have produced for it change the whole image of the station down in my opinion - granted it is for less than a minute an hour at the moment. Goes from high energy feel good music, to "hey grandma, gotta bail me outta jail maaannn" - the imaging of the ads doesn't seem to be targetting those who were arrested for frivilous reason, but make them sound to be total THUGS!

Actually listening online,,, they have changed the adds to look like they appeal to the more dangerous criminals,, I also noticed that they all seem to have hispanic accents,,,, not good since thats a big part of their target audience... Certainly not the same Bail Bonds adds I heard just a few weeks ago....

Pulse 87 has ads about enlarging a male body part.

But back on topic, is 94.5 KVBE turning a profit as it is now? I hope it gets the translator in Vegas.

Well... not sure how much their current transmitter costs are or staffing, but I can't assume a single advertiser is generating them THAT much revenue! However it is a start.

Does this company have any other stations or any other businesses tied to it, or is it a completely new startup?

What was the history behind KVBE anyhow - can't seem to find very much?

What do you really want to know? I'll fill you in on all of the good stuff. :)

Are we making a profit. Nope.

Are we making any money? Not yet.

Are we still planning on the new stick in Vegas? Yep. Soon. VERY soon.

Do we all love the bail bond ads? Don't ask.

Our "other" station is KFSZ 106.1 in Flagstaff. www.my1061fm.com

Lots of new music on the station. Never fear... I'm still tweaking the library.

Also, many new mix shows are coming. It's just been a bit of pain to coordinate with the DJs while I have some other "behind the scenes" stuff going on.

..was up in Vegas this week, and the vibe has a virtually NON-EXISTANT signal on the strip on a good car radio. the transmitter into LV can't come soon enough.

Ye. Built that way by design. :) Stay tuned. Good stuff on the way.

Why would you design a station so that the signal misses most of the target market?

I went to the website to check it out and the chatroom people are saying the station's off the air. :(

Standard practice when the intention is to use an on-channel booster to provide the actual service to the target market. You put the "primary" transmitter on the other side of terrain from the target market (the classic example is the Humpy Peak site east of Salt Lake City), then use a booster in or very near the target market to "fill in" the portion of the predicted 60 dBu contour from the primary that's blocked by terrain.

Does that serve the public interest, convenience or necessity? That's highly debatable - but it's become a common engineering trick to squeeze more signals into crowded FM dials in places like Salt Lake, Vegas and Phoenix, and KVBE is hardly alone in doing it.

Ahhh, okay. I didn't think of a booster. I was under the assumption they were getting some sort of a translator instead. My mistake. 8)

..a note on www.vibevegas.com shoutbox states that all plans for live dj's and the new transmitter have been put on hold - anyone know anything else? If this is true, that is really too bad - maybe it is a good thing until they get a stronger footing - although can't imagine how they are raking in the cash right now?

On another note... they've added a lot of new and old music. It is sounding GREAT! And new HOT imaging as well.. Well worth a listen!

Well thats a bummer,,, but its obvious they arent making money right now,,, I hope they didnt ditch Mitch Craig for VO..... I do hope this station will eventually get their Booster on air... Coverging Vegas is top priority aside from live DJs and Mixshows.... though thats important next.

Now, why would you believe anything that's written in the public shoutbox on the website?
I've mentioned before, if you have any specific quesyiobns about the station, I'm happy to answer them, My email is [email protected] and I try to reply within 24 hours.

To address some concerns: There have not been any plans for live announcers/DJs at all, so I don't know how those plans have been put on hold. Of course, we do feature several club jocks who provide mixes for us and we're adding to that lineup with severasl new mixshows.

Neither Mitch Craig or Kelly x3 are going anywhere. The imaging will continue to be "retro/dance cool", cuz that's what I like. :)

There is a plan to get a flamethrowin' signal into LV proper and as soon as we get all the details worked out, we'll let you know. Trust me...there's no one who wants that signal loud and clear in Vegas more than me. (and no, the plans afor the new Xmitter are NOT on hold.)

Any other questions? Drop me an email.

RW, I should know better than to believe the shoutbox.... *slaps wrist*.

Thanks for setting the record straight... and as long as you are there and have that passion, I'm sure everything is in good hands... Keep up the great work...

It could be heard from Cedar City, UT all the way to about 20 miles into California on I-15, about 200 miles! The signal would probably be bad in Vegas itself because of the overloading from other stations.
I think Vibe Vegas has the largest signal of dance-formatted stations in the US, but the fewest potential listeners in the 60 dBu contour (cactus and camels don't dance). Pulse 87 has the largest amount of potential listeners. Super 91.7 has the smallest signal, besides any dance formatted pirates, if those even exist.

Signal strength is always a help. But we actually hit the metro where it counts. We hit at 3 counties (New Castle County is our focus) that make-up the Wilmington market.

Co-channel booster cannot extend the contour of the primary. A non-station owned translator can though.
