Last week I asked on the Classic board and the Miami board.

No response.

Maybe someone here knows?

I just listened to an old Eddie Cantor
Show and heard "Produced and directed by
Vic Knight" at the end.

Could this be the same Vic Knight who was
owner of Big Band station WDBF?

I haven't thought about that channel since TVLand became available.

Or Alan Knight, of WEAT-FM.

Or John and James Knight, founfers of the Miami Herald.

Or The Blues In The Night, a great movie (1940s?)
with great jazz, where I first heard the song by that name.
Probably on Dave Dixon's show.

Or Knightline.

Or the Knights that say "Ni!"

On the slim chance that 954 is still hanging around wondering...

Yes, it's very possible, given Vic's age and musical background. As you may know, he had a band on the side while he was running WDBF in Delray Beach, FL. I remember him from the 1990s, did a little bit of commercial production for him in exchange for access to the production studio to work on airchecks ("Send tape and resume to..."). I believe decades earlier he also owned a station in Gainesville, FL; WGGG IIRC. I didn't share his taste in music but he seemed to be a very decent person.

And before Del Ray Beach.... wasn't Vic Knight part of the music scene and broadcasting in Indianapolis?

And was it one of the Ayres family that helped him bankroll the Del Ray Beach Venture?
..... (Ayres family as in "L. S. Ayres Department Stores".)

I can't confirm or deny that as my experience with the gentleman was brief and close to his retirement. I know he liked to golf with potential clients which was pretty easy to do, as WDBF was located next door to a course. He could sometimes make his office the 19th hole and sign 'em up.

My (faded) memory is that during his broadcast years in Indianapolis he could put together his part-time Big Band era orchestra for company events, weddings and other social events.

Man, this thread was started as part of the "original" Radio-Info and that's my original self earlier in this thread.
