I heard one of the "obligatory" fcc application spots on KIXS, talking about potential new ownership. Does anyone know if there has been/will be any changes on the inside?

Hopefully GAP will bring back live and local radio in all day-parts and local contest. Homoginized radio bites!

They're keeping nexgen. So I wouldn't count on live and local.
 
I wouldn't be getting my hopes up for the 24/7 live and local. These new guys are in it to make money too. Why would they pay a live jock a salary and benefits when they can get someone to VT for 6K a year? And 90% of the time, the VT jock will sound better. It sucks...but that's just how it is these days. Now what is gonna be interesting is the Nextgen stuff, the syndication deals, the VT contracts....How will all THAT work out after the sale goes thru?
 
The rumor going around another board was that GAP wanted to do more local radio but was also very impressed by the margins the CC stations were doing with voicetracking. We'll have to wait and see.
 
Texas Radio is the only local station I know of, KVIC is local untill abot 1pm. The rest are either V/T or done by a computer or simalcasting by sat.
 
All 3 of the CC stations in Victoria have at least one live daypart. KIXS has 2 live, local jocks. KLUB also has 2 local jocks. Last I heard, KQVT (the station where I got my start) only has one due to their syndicated morning show. Haven't talked to anyone there in awhile so I don't know what changes will be made after the sale. Hopefully they'll keep all the air staff they have now.
