Vida Unida to replace NGEN radio on 91.7FM

Heard it on my morning drive, all I can say is

AWESOME!!! This will be my new morning drive station.

Will knock down all the small stations. Expect lots of changes on all these translators.

It's supposed to be on one -- KWUP 92.5 HD2 out of Navasota. However, KWUP is not broadcasting any subchannels, just their main programming on HD1. I don't know if it was removed, or if perhaps something is just broken.

I wonder if they'll keep NGEN's expansive network of translators. Speaking of, their translator K226AE in College Station was transmitting static this morning.
NGEN hasn't been broadcast on KWUP HD2 for several years since it got its own FM frequency 93.1 in College Station (the HD2 coverage area).

All FM frequencies that were broadcasting the FM format are now broadcasting the Vida Unida format. NGEN is solely in the digital space via the website, mobile app, and smart home speakers.

The station sounds like a Cuban,Puerto Rican Christian Station. The music is all Spanish christian contemporary. Imaging sounds clean and Spanish top 40.
Myrka Dellanos sounds good I only hope they bring a new Host that doesn't sound so Cuban. I believe this might be the end of "the good pastor" Hector Guevara, the Villareals blood sucking flea markets "Christian station" .

Sounds like a Christian Version of MEGA 101
the host is also programming director so he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

93.1 is a translator and is not allowed to "originate programming" only "translate" another station. In the case of 93.1 (K226AE), it looks like the primary station it is translating is not KWUP but KHVU. It was originally KWUP. I can't tell when it was changed.

The primary station for K259AH is KWUP. It was broadcasting NGEN over a week ago when I last checked. I had missed the TOH through.

When looking over the online bios of the Vida Unida air personalities last week, I had the thought that the morning hosts might be too "east coast" to resonate with a southeast Texas audience. The afternoon guy seemed a much better cultural fit. I'm not in the target demographic, so just an outside observation.

The guy supposedly ran Mega I forgot what market he said. Then he ran El Sol in Florida.
He’s From Puerto Rico lives in Pennsylvania.

The morning show seems entertaining to me, and like I previously stated he sounds just like any other guy on Mega or LATINOMIX.

Well, since KLOL's program director is also from Puerto Rico and has been very successful, the issue is applying knowledge acquired in one market to the situation and audience in antother.

I wouldn't bet on that. Churches are a lot like strip clubs. When a bigger, shinier one opens, the smaller ones just shift their target clientele with new bells and whistles.

I completely reject that comparison and I have never witnessed anything even remotely resembling the church "pivot" you describe.

Imaging is good .. music is on point and so far the talents sound great!

David Tony is not a on air talent . You remember when Univision’s Kama tried Daniel pol (Puerto Rican ) in the morning and failed bad ? Heavy accents don’t work in houston . Jo jo at Kama another example he has never had any success in morning or pm drive

There are no Christian stations in Cuba.
He probably means Miami radio stations like WGNK, which are aimed at Cubans... though not at all exclusively, like say, a WAQI talker or a WRMA Cuban reggaetón station would.

Honestly, Christian AC is probably the least changed of all Spanish formats. Luis Fonsi and Ricky Martin left sleepy ballads far behind, but that is still most worship music in Spanish. There's really very little urban or regional sound to the stuff that charts.

Besides the Christian formats they have are just to cover space between paid programming. Even though they’re nonprofits they use the stations to have programmings like YOUR HEALTH, buy a house, invest in savings ect ect.
