Video: Fox News Reporter Caught Sleeping On KTBC/Austin

Cut-backs at work. Back in the day the DC reporter would have had a camera op, a floor manager, maybe even a producer in the studio with him. He was probably sitting alone in front of a robocam and his earpiece failed. After a long night covering elections, just sitting quietly waiting for your turn to speak would easily bring on the sandman.

As it turns out, he apparently was NOT sleeping. My understanding from more recent media reports is that the D.C. correspondent was simply looking down and the IFB from Austin had NOT been properly routed to him. That was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was taking the shot when it was obviously not ready. That information comes from the original poster of the video, who says the D.C. reporter direct messaged hiim.

Fox has had so many cutbacks at KTBC and D.C. level that it's amazing that they can get 720 lines on the air.

It's really sad what's happened to that station here in Austin.

This is a very unfair posting. The fact someone just assumed he was asleep and posted that statement is inexcusable.
The fact Mr. Luzader had to direct message the original poster means it's made its way back to him and his bosses. So one stupid inaccuracy about a technical glitch gets this reporter in trouble. Shame on whoever put this video out there with inaccurate information.

Then it's shame on about a dozen websites that picked this up and ran with it. In viewing the video, it's amazing how much the reporter in D.C. appears to be completely out of it. Yes, he probably was reading the paper.

But let's not trash the original poster. He was not alone.

I can think of a couple of technical folks who deserve to be slapped on this one....especially whoever took the shot at KTBC.

If I'm being referred to as "the original poster," as opposed to the source that first went "live" with this video... I was just passing along an item to this board "as advertised"...

@mmnassour, thanks for the clarification.
