Viral- The most overused word on Television today

Viral, the word that is used to describe every single video posted anywhere. I'm so sick of hearing that every video regardless of the topic supposedly goes VIRAL.. It has no meaning anymore. There has not been a day in the past 5 months when some morning show talks about some silly video and how it has gone VIRAL. Good Lord, can't someone think of a better term. What does it mean to Go VIRAL???? How many hits before it is considered GOING VIRAL???? How long do folks have to continue to see it to count. What is the criteria? Who sets the criteria? I'd rather see someone run their fingernails down a chalkboard than use that silly word one more time. Okay, rant is over. Thanks for reading

As much as I agree with you, even more annoying to me is the word "amazing". Everyone and everything is amazing. I don't know how many talk shows I've flipped by when I hear the host say "we'll be right back with the amazing Kim Kardashian" (or Miley Cyrus or some other untalented actress). Someone who memorizes words off of a script are not amazing, they are simply actors. Big difference. As for the people mentioned above, I'm not sure where they fit into all of this, but I'm pretty sure I can't use the language on this site.

I know what you are saying. Ms. Guthrie on Today can not go a day without using the word "viral". Can't these folks use more than a hundred or so words?

A few years ago on the Celebrity Apprentice, Donald Trump wanted the teams to produce a "viral video" for Tide Detergent!

Gosh, I hate HASHTAG! I don't use Twitter so it doesn't apply for me...

It's an "Octothorpe", according to the Telco engineers.
A "Hashtag" is used on pots of food at a roadhouse diner, in order to determine which pot contains which meat and spice combos....
"Mild", "Medium", "Spicy" and "Yesterday's".
