Virgin - Spring Arbs

12+ means nothin. KUBE gets a bunch of teens (22 share of their total) and 18-34 audience. You can't win with that. They don't even bill in the top ten in Seattle any more. The PI story should have been the 25-54 glory battle. KZOK and KMPS lose 20% of their audience, while WOLF gains. The second part of the story is morning drive where Men are owned by Bob Rivers (slipping big) BJ Shea and FITZ. Women are owned by Ichabod (slipping big) Kent and Alan (with an unexplainable increase) and FITZ. No KUBE to be seen where it counts.

I can't understand why you are so surprised by the PLZ increase. Hot AC had a strong audience (not huge but enough to sustain) ... one player went away ... women who want fairly mainstream music probably going to turn to the one station left still playing that. Result would be a predictable increase after 92.5 drops that playlist. Not brain surgery. Question on the table is whether 92.5 can convert those who MIGHT be interested in that newer format to stay around ... or find a way to "MOVE" them to warm and keep the former audience in the family.

It's the INVERSE of WOLF/KMPS battle ... instead of splitting the pie you're handing those who like the "old" format over to PLZ. One would EXPECT an increase for the first book. The challenge there, of course, is to keep super-serving those new listeners and keep them at 101.5 for three more books (a reference inserted to keep djdan a happy camper!).

Right - let's see how long the WOLF numbers last folks...

..and I like Virgin's last paragraph re KIXI...

..can we ALL hold our breaths on this one??

Just looked at the month of June for MOVIN, their first real month on the air. The station owned the market in women 18-24, 18-34 and even 18-49. KBKS was obliterated in just one month and KUBE got tied or beat. Not a bad start, will see if it lasts.

I am not surprised by KPLZ after looking at these numbers, they actually won the 25-54 female battle in May and June, but not because of 92.5's flip. 92.5 grew in that demographic too. STAR 101.5 went to number one in May and June by knocking down JACK and KRWM, but I doubt it can last. KRWM will have them for lunch by Christmas and JACK will come back. Good book for STAR 101.5, but not because of the flip of 92.5. Props to Lisa for one of the best launches since JACK and with a brand new format, never tried before.
