Visit to KSIQ. KRTH once more

Took a hike around the Lake Morena area, and ended at the KSIQ TX site. Everything in order, locked gate and graded road. The 8 copper
radiating elements have oxidized to a dark hue. 2 clearance lights are on the top. Yes, the station is ON. But only a feeble (guess) 100w
output. It has the same programming as the booster, but the audio feed is a very low bit rate, and most of the treble is gone. No STL dish on
the tower, as was proposed, either. From my point could not see any antenna registration number on the base.
Based on the way CCR has kept expenditures to a minimum, I would make a gentlemans bet that no transmitter is in the outbuilding. Only an
exciter. With no one on this forum, myself, or a buddy checking every day, has ever heard/received a full strength signal from this site. After all,
it's NOT an LP-FM, and should be at full power.
Update
KRTH's Friday pm break was "only" 8 minutes. Previous days were between 7-8 mins. Listening to KOLA's break at 10:48 a.m. today, theirs
was 8 mins. also. Two top-rated stations in lock-step? Geesh! If a long break is good, capitalize on it!
KRTH, try this: have Charlie Van Dyke announce,"You're in the middle of a 10 minute commercial break, on KRTH 1-0-1" . Just like they do for
their music blocks.(And the execs wonder why total listeners count goes down every year.)
Last note; plenty of poison Oak out in the KSIQ area....and horseflys.

CCR is often confused with the clear fuzzy guys; in this case it means cherrie Cherry Creek Radio. They do own some great sticks in the Silver State, like KLMR.

As I said before, tune out occurs in this PPM radio world at the beginning of stopsets, so the fewer the number of stops the less total tune-out incidents in the hour. That means that the average station has two breaks totaling around 12 to 15 minutes of spots, plus promos and such.

The IE, San Diego and LA are all PPM markets, so expect most stations to use the same tactical information to program.

David, if that's true then I cannot comprehend why advertisers would buy any radio whatsoever.

I could never figure that out when I'd hear businesses that only had a very localized draw spending money to reach the entire market with radio ads. It works for some - not for others - but with all media there has always been a lot of money spent on ads that don't work.
