VIVA going HURBAN? Hopefully not.

I listen to VIVA alot and enjoy the good mix of Spanish Pop, Rock & Reggeaton. But this weekend they played english songs by Fat Joe, Beyonce and Snoop Dogg.

I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Viva does a good job as Chicago's only Spanish language (NOT MEXICAN) top 40 station. It would be a shame if it went ghetto.

I know Hurban is coming, if not VIVA, somewhere on the dial. Hopefully La Ley flips to Hurban instead of VIVA. Since Clear Channel is flipping stations around the country, I can see KISS flipping.

Viva has been playing English songs since HBC/Univision bought it.

Shaggy - Angel
English versions of songs by Enrique Iglasias, Marc Anthony, Thaila etc
Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head
are a few examples.

I wouldn't quite characterize Beyonce's music as ghetto. She is a
very talented artist. If VIVA mixed in some Christina Aguilera and
Kylie Minogue, would you consider the station ghetto? I'm no big
fan of rap or hip hop. But a lot of that music can be heard in the
burbs.

955,

Christina (in most cases) and for sure Kylie do not exist on Hurban radio. As Hurban varies on the demos present in the market they are in.<P ID="signature">______________
