Either way; to quote the Rolling Stones: "But it's all over now.."I was almost positive all the hosts were based in los Angeles. That's where vivid headquarters was based out of and the studio they broadcasted out of on site.
I don't think its too far out of the question to say that there could be a return of this type of programming somewhere on the radio.Either way; to quote the Rolling Stones: "But it's all over now.."
Its kind of sad in my opinion because this channel kind of gave people an escape from all the stressful things going on in the world but now we no longer have this so.I don't think its too far out of the question to say that there could be a return of this type of programming somewhere on the radio.
On regular radio?? Oh Lord no.I don't think its too far out of the question to say that there could be a return of this type of programming somewhere on the radio.
Stress relief? I suppose some people could have used it for that. Not personally my cup of tea.Its kind of sad in my opinion because this channel kind of gave people an escape from all the stressful things going on in the world but now we no longer have this so.
Pretty sure you already knew that though. This channel existed? Ew.
The channel consisted of mainly porn stars talking about other porn stars, or making dirty talk to horny truck drivers that called in. It was cringeworthy. Before reading the thread? Yeah…um, no.
How is that vivids fault? Maybe whoever is engineering that works for Sirius should take a couple classes on how to do their job correctly or to learn how to institute preventative measures so that type of thing doesn’t happen. The channel consisted of mainly porn stars talking about other porn stars, or making dirty talk to horny truck drivers that called in. One of the biggest fears from the Operations side, was an unintentional audio routing caused Vivid to inadvertently appear on another SXM stream that didn't involve sex talk, like one of the kids channels. I won't confirm nor deny that actually happened at least one time.
Sure, nobody ever makes a mistake. How is that vivids fault? Maybe whoever is engineering that works for Sirius should take a couple classes on how to do their job correctly or to learn how to institute preventative measures so that type of thing doesn’t happen.
I think you are making that assumption based on your own personal view of the channel. Their isn't really a ratings measuring system for sirius xm that I'm aware of. I do know that the channel was popular in the fact that its live shows almost always had consistent phone calls the entire hour and they covered a lot of education related to adult entertainment topics as well as stood up for adult entertainers rights in the industry.Sure, nobody ever makes a mistake.
Vivid wasn't a very popular channel in the lineup. In my view, more trouble than it was worth. Use the bandwidth for something less offensive and gross.
That's true, it is my opinion, combined with some insider information.I think you are making that assumption based on your own personal view of the channel.
SXM relies a lot on on-line streaming metrics, listener feedback from the website, and polling of subscribers. It could very well be that Vivid listeners were concerned about admitting they listen to the channel and not admitting it in the surveys, but data is data.Their isn't really a ratings measuring system for sirius xm that I'm aware of.
Consistent phone calls from the same horny truckers doesn't justify keeping a channel going, nor can caller volume act as a gauge for how many actual listeners a channel has. Especially when the lot are repeat callers.I do know that the channel was popular in the fact that its live shows almost always had consistent phone calls
Education related to adult entertainment? Is that anything like calling someone who collects trash for a living a; Sanitary Worker?the entire hour and they covered a lot of education related to adult entertainment topics as well as stood up for adult entertainers rights in the industry.
I tuned in for a few seconds a couple of weeks before the closure and it was obvious porn is only effective with pictures/video.The channel consisted of mainly porn stars talking about other porn stars, or making dirty talk to horny truck drivers that called in. It was cringeworthy.

Most folks don't realize that there is constant routing of audio around SXM, not only at the individual cities/studios, but between the SXM locations, including talent's homes. 99.9% of those routes are automated, fed by what amount to logs. It's pretty cool actually. If something is scheduled for a studio, the log/schedule is created which not only routes that studio to a particular channel, recording input, or stream, but even loads any playlist into that studio's workstation. There have been instances where talent shows up to the wrong studio, or shows up to the correct studio, but the route is scheduled incorrectly. That's when alarms go off in the NOC to alert the supervisor at the helm that either the automation took control with filler music due to silence on that scheduled channel. The NOC Supervisor then needs to figure out what the issue is and see to the resolution. That happens less lately, since probably 89% of the shows are straight up voice tracked. On the operations side, routing could be a problem since several theme channels are taken off-line as more play-by-play sports channels are added and restored as channels are subtracted. Managing satellite bandwidth is similar to managing the power grid.
I feel like if they just replayed the old vivid shows that weren't focused on dirty talk as much as discussing women's rights in the adult entertainment industry that would have got better ratings than the live call in shows with questionable discussions surrounding adult themed topics. Most folks don't realize that there is constant routing of audio around SXM, not only at the individual cities/studios, but between the SXM locations, including talent's homes. 99.9% of those routes are automated, fed by what amount to logs. The other complication, is the numerous remote home studio locations of the talent. The automation systems route their connection to the proper recording input, or in the rare case, to a live stream/channel.
The channel was popular with a small faction of horny truckers and shut-in males. I seriously doubt focusing on a topic like exposing employee rights concerns in the porn industry would have garnered a larger audience, let alone allowed for the channels survival.I feel like if they just replayed the old vivid shows that weren't focused on dirty talk as much as discussing women's rights in the adult entertainment industry that would have got better ratings than the live call in shows with questionable discussions surrounding adult themed topics.
