VMas Coming to KLEG-LD

Hey all:

I've heard that KLEG-LD is going to be adding the VMas network some time in the near future.

http://www.vmastv.com/

- Trip

their web site at http://www.vmastv.com/#!about-us
says that they are coming soon to "Dallas, Houston, San Antonio KLGE Channel 44" [sic] They must be planning on getting a really, really tall transmitter to cover Dallas, Houston and San Antonio with Channel 44!

As of 19:00 on Sunday 17 JUL 2011, KLEG is back on with four streams. 44-1 and 44-2 both have programming while 44-3 and 44-4 are color bars.

Indeed. I have VMas with no audio on 44.1. Pleasantly surprised to see SAB TV (India) on 44.2.

I've been curious when South Asian television would start to show up on digital subchannels, as we already have Vietnamese and Chinese programming, at least here in Houston. Already a number of AM's with programming aimed at the Indian and Pakistani communities.

I have audio on both .1 and .2, but only the right channel.

Surprisingly, at least one .1 program (wrestling) was in English ???

44-3 is labeled HUM RD. Presumably something is planned.
Nope. Just another simulcast of 44.2.
Well, that's what's on NOW; not necessarily what's planned for the indefinite future

I tried Googling HUM RD but all I got was a bunch of addresses on Hum Road, so I have no idea what may be coming. Possibly more Asian programming, but that's just a wild guess at this point

The video was the same but 44.3 had different audio when I checked yesterday... I could have swore I heard it say Hum Radio...

They have a static page up now. HumDesi Radio: North America's Largest 24x7 South Asian Radio Network

So it's basically an audio-only channel, plus a static video page to let folks know what's going on

Their website shows the service as being carried on FM HD-2 channels in several other markets. Guess they were unable to lease an FM-HD channel here.

I would keep an eye on this in Houston, as there is a sizeable South Asian community, with several AM's targeting that demographic.
