Voice Over Question WTRG and WZZU

We used Joe Kelly at WTRG when switching to Oldies. Before. That, we used Smooth Talkers. I don't know who ZZU used. I used Mark Driscol for a while after Joe Kelly.

From what I remember, ZZU used Joe Kelly around 1985-86, then Joe Van Riper around 1987, and Mark Driscoll during the "Rock 40" period in 1989.

WTRG was already mentioned but I also want to add that Dude Walker was used as well around 1993.

WTRG VOs... IIRC, starting with Joe Kelly...

then followed by Dude Walker, Charlie Van Dyke, Chuck Riley (RIP), Jeff Laurence (all of whom I produced as Imaging Director 00-04)

After WTRG became WRVA-FM they went to Chris Corley (who was used on WRDU when @ 106.1).

Present voice for 100.7 as the "new" WRDU is Malcolm Ryker. "Mal" does a lot of mainstream/active rock and some classic rock stations.Malcolm was recently the bumper voice for the "Hurricane Sandy Benefit". He's either still at CC San Diego or just left for full time freelance. Can't recall exactly.

The new WRDU imaging is terrible. The whole package, the writing, all of it... just sounds so contrived and halfass. (then again the new WRDU itself is fairly contrived and halfass)

I'm kind of surprised they didn't pick back up with John Wells. THAT was some good imaging.

Driscoll rolled tape and started reading...no proof read, no edit. I would throw some crazy liners in from time, just to hear his reaction. "Little Records, Big Holes...Oldies 100.7"

Is that the one who I would hear on some mornings saying "106.1 RRRR DDDD UUUU"?

This wouldn't happen any more even if my station hadn't gone Spanish because they turned down the power.

He also would "reset himself" occasionally by saying "Extra 104", another station he was doing imaging for (DC Area). Evidently he really liked saying that!

Yeah, Max...that was one of the funny things about using Driscoll. His outtakes were always good for a laugh. BTW, Windows Media featured me as an Editor's Pick this week, had to expand my slots to 150 and that's still nowhere near enough.

"Little records, big holes." Love it. I think we used it again in 00 or 01.

Driscoll was added to G105 about '03. Sounded terrible. I do like Driscoll's work when he was on WPLJ/Mojo Radio in the early 90s.
