Voice over question

Welcome to the 21st Century! If you're talking about the cardboard sign holder in Columbus, not only was he in the right place at the right time, but you have to admit, he does have a great set of pipes.

This guy Ted Williams, is being flown out to 30 Rock to be on the Today Show in the morning. Hopefully he can indeed remain clean and take advantage of this new lease on life he's been given.

So, to get a job doing voice over work, the best way to do that is to put something together on You Tube and hope for the best?

Whatever happend to simply sending out airchecks or demos to radio stations?
Kinda hard to do that when you're on a tight budget, especially given the fact that the old ways are basically useless. It's all about ROI.

Don't worry, Canada sometimes takes a bit to catch up. :)

Looks like getting a sign, and standing on an Interstate ramp is a pretty good way to get noticed...

Anything public for loose change burns out quickly. There's the original, and the wannabe.
Remember that statue guy that painted his whole body silver?

Now everybody is doing it and there's no shock anymore. WE ALL KNOW that seeing a "statue" might be a human. It's just boring now.

If I ever see someone holding up a sign advertising his/her voice, I now ignore it.
Before Ted Williams, I might have given up a dollar or two.

I don't know...last time I was there, the Naked Cowboy still gets a lot of attention in Times Square. Especially in the winter.

There are a dozen or so top notch(well over 6 figures) v.o. artists. Worth every penny. Another 100 or so making a decent living.
The rest? 1,000's of wannabees, beer money.

Ted Williams has shown us, any bum off the street can take your job. ;)
