Voicemaster Pro worth it?

I've got a chance to pick up a Focusrite Voicemaster Pro for $500. My mic is a Sennheiser MKH-416. Anyone use one of these and how do you think it would marry up to the 416?

Thanks,

LOL! Russ, you never stop do ya. I'm still gonna get the FMR RNC you suggested and give it a whirl. For the price why not!

I think Matt Anthony has a Voicemaster. Email him.

I really think you'll like the FMR RNC compressor. I liked it so much I bought two.:) It has two modes, one normal and one that's called Supernice mode which makes it really transparent. I got mine from www.atlasproaudio.com.

Later,

Russ

I have two trakmaster pro's and I love them. I know the Voicemaster Pro has a few more bells and whistles but they do have similar features and for the money they are totally worth it.

I use them to get the signal in the DAW and then I can use plugs to tweak.

I give the trakmaster's 8 out of 10 stars if this helps.

Russ..The Focusrite Voicemaster sounded great..but the PS was just stressed out on it..It ran really warm..the AirCorp box is wonderful. It is a very well made unit, and sounds aggressive without going nuts unless you want it that way.. I don't know how much longer they are going to make them. They are made by the same company who made the Audicord cart machines in Normal, Ill. Former WCFL CE was the brains behind it. If you get one new..call me for tweaks. There are two jumpers that need to be switched from factory default to "brighten it up" They preset the symmetry and bass rolloff from the factory but these can be changed via a simple moving of a jumper. It's all analog though..no digital outputs..It really sounds good when using an outbiard mic-pre.

I might be able to find one of mine that I can sell if BSW is out of stock..John Lynch at BSW might be able to get one drop shipped to you. OR you can usually get one from Harris.

Don't forget to try E-Bay

Got burned on E-Bay once and don't use it anymore. About the only time I'll buy used is from someone I know, like you Jeff...hint...hint..:) Other wise I normally buy new. Certainly have no problem buying used...hint...hint...:)<P ID="signature">______________
