What are you looking to do, specifically? Cool edit Pro / Adobe Audition will probably get you the best bang for your buck. It's more a matter of your delivery and what type of equipment you use more than anything if it's a particular 'sound' you're going for.

I've used a few but Adobe Audition is pretty user friendly--read short learning curve--and doesn't require a lot of specialized sound cards. You may be able to download a trial version. Good luck.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by u-j on 02/24/06 12:27 AM.</FONT></P>
