The same software as whatever station it is you're voicetracking...If you're just sending a batched file full of tracks that someone else has to deal with and place in the right spots in their log, then just use Audition or someother simple recorder and process to your hearts desire.

so if one station uses prophet and another uses Scott Studios, i would be better off tracking with audition<P ID="signature">______________

Unless you can come up with a program that lets you load logs from both stations and a variety of systems, gives you music track playback (do you have ALL of the songs from ALL of the stations with intro and seg times, etc so you can track over music?)...if such a program exists, by all means go for it! And let me know what it is because I would love to know.

Otherwise, audition or a similar program works just fine if you aren't tracking "in context" and are just sending the files to the stations for them to place manually.

An interesting dynamic comes up here. I was asked to VT a station for a BIG company (one who I do many station's imaging)and I was willing to actually purchase a Prophet system to get the work done..BUT they would NOT allow those afrementioned logs, and music playlists to go out of thier building or away from corporate sacred grounds. The internal security for most major players is amazing...and paranoia is rampant. I was able to to the work if I traveled to a nearby market where they had a cluster and do it..but not from my home base. Even one of the satellite companies that I was doing a morning show for chose to pull the plug on me because I was out of the area and could not go to thier studio to do the tracking..and the system that they used required a "dongle" to unlock and they did not want all of those "dongles" floating around. The money isn't real great either for all of the prep and time spent.

It seems that most major companies toss VT jobs to internal people so those "secret playlists" and "proprietary liners" don't leak out..
