VoIP phones for my show

Im in the process of setting up my new show (which will be on live 365 in the spring). I was curious about others experiences on here with VoIP (sound quality,dropout,ect..) when it comes to doing interviews via phone. Ive been debating going with a Vonage-type setup (toll free/hotline) for the show. Has anyone here had any positive/negative experiences with any products of this nature?

I've used three different VoIP lines:

Comcast $49.99/mo for two lines - most reliable, but not available in all markets, only areas they serve as cable provider. But NEVER lose connection.

Vonage - $24.99/mo one line - A little "dirty" on the line. Not noticable unless you're talking to someone on a less than clean land line. But "almost" always reliable.

Lingo - $20.00/mo one line - Clean signal, but when I first starting using the service, the line would disconnect every 60 minutes on the nose! Called in, they "pinged" my modem, much better now, but still scares me sometimes.

ALL are better than regular SBC land lines - and usually less expensive.

www.AudioSportsOnline.com provides streaming service similar to 365, but with more personable service, and better quality audio - 24bit audio streams.

Why worry about audio quality and VoIP if you're sending your final product to an 8bit thin audio stream?

Sorry, had to plug it!

Personally, I use Skype with the SkypeIn service. This allows you to direct a phone number to your Skype account. It also comes with voicemail. I have only had minimal phone conversations on it, but the sound was clear when I recorded it. Obviously, it will sound like a phone call instead of a voice chat session, but I found it works good enough for my purposes.

It's $12 for 3 months or $38 for a year. I say give it a shot for $12 and see how it goes.<P ID="signature">______________
