Vorsis VP-8

Is there anybody who has heard the new Vorsis VP-8 yet? I heard that they had it at NAB and it got some good reviews...

Well we got a decent fix for the Omnia One but the return process was already in the works. Now we've got a DSPX it is solid but I heard about the Vorsis product like the day after we got it. I was just wondering if anybody else had checked it out yet. I've generally heard negative stuff about the Vorsis products and wanted to see how they were shaking down now.

All in all the DSPX is great actually louder than our 8400 without getting dirty (to my surprise) and there are no HF ducking issues to speak of, but with that being said it is extremely bright on all presets when using 75 microsecond preemphasis. A lot of people ask this question, so I'll ask too -- anybody got any good presets? Thanks

got the gthot preset running on an FM.Try that one i think you'll like it courtesy of Goran. Also have an FM on air with the dsp-extra.Both clients like it..Keep in mind some of those presets may have been set with 50 pre-emph,not the 75,we run in the USA.

The Vorbis stuff has improved GREATLY since the 2007 NAB. The VP-8 is a good sounding budget box that will stay up with most any of the 12k boxes out there. With that being said, the new 30 some odd band thing they have out now is STELLAR. It's 14k, but actually is the BEST available right now IMHO. LOUD and really CLEAN a the same time!

Their new top-line AM box is awsome. If I had to buy a processor for a major market AM they'd have my business. It's very, very smooth yet loud. I've never heard an AM box that sounded so good.

Good point. My presets are all based on the European 50uS. My quick fix would be to turn down the HF limiter and/or tune down band 4 in the mixer. Although I think that I already run band 4 less that 0 db into the clipper IIRC. You could make band 4 a bit more limiting but this could make you trade in a bit of open sound that you might like.

I'm curious what is the rest thinking?
