Vote! Does anyone care anymore?

Does anyone care...period...what Seattle area radio does now or future? Yes? No?

Even without knowing the future, do you care?

Yup. Because a lot of people's livelihoods depend on it.

That makes it sound as if you're in it for the gossip side of it, seeing who is hired and fired.

Personally, I'm in it because I love the medium. Still "ol' reliable" compared to other outlets.

I care, though when people speak about stations upping power and get into the technical details of tower operations or signal directions I tend to move along to the next topic.

Agreed. Enjoy local radio and 92% of America still listens each week. I think we under appreciate sometimes what we have in this market. There are some good local personalities and programming that try to appeal to their audience and do good work in the community. It does matter.

I love radio. It was the medium of my youth (and STILL the best thing around when all else in our high-tech digital world fails.) But I am always worried about it. I never got to be the next Chet Buchanan or Randy Lundquist. But that's not what bugs me. It's not the long-behind-the-curve format tweaks, it's not the radical, almost desperate format ideas. It's not even the corporate orgy of the last few decades that would make Larry Flynt blush that irks me.

It's that these days, I actually find virtually NO teenagers (save for the one or two geeks I meet now and then) that will even ADMIT they even listen to the radio. At all.

THAT bugs me.....

Yes - Because even though I am banking on the growth of Internet Broadcasting I wouldn't be where I am if it weren't for my love of radio, and I still try to listen in someplace everyday...
