Interesting. I wish there was a comments section or a way to vote to keep the Flash name and make it a Bob/Jack format.

I am assuming that the people here are smart enough to see a sham when one comes about. Is First Broadcasting really going to allow an internet vote to decide the outcome. If they were they would show the results as the votes come in. And where was option 3? Take both stations and walk them into the desert in vegas, and dig a big whole.
what a joke

As has been posted in the other thread on the subject, First has registered flash921.com as of two weeks ago, so logic (if First has any left) would dictate they are moving the existing Flash format down the dial.

It is very doubtful, speaking as a consultant, that the name would get recycled to a new format.

By registering the www.flash921.com webname, it's obvious that it's already been decided in Dallas. 103.9 will go Spanish, 92.1 will become "Flash92.1", and everyone will join hands and sing "We Are the World" as your neighborhood becomes a safer place.

Yup.. I bet you're right about the move to 92.1. Hell, Bob doesn't even have a decent website up yet and as mentioned before flash921.com is registered. What does that tell us? The sad fact remains though that even when 92.1 is upgraded, it will be sold off to the highest bidder. So Flash is doomed one way or another, regardless of how it preforms. First is in the buy it, fix the signal, and then sell it game, so programming is really just a placeholder. It is litterly all just a matter of time before 80s are Flashed out of the pan again. Sad thing is the talent at that station is pretty good and the music.. shameful how things go these days.<P ID="signature">______________

Leave Bob alone, unless you keep the adult hits alone on 92.1 and use the "Flash" name. I wonder if Flash has been used as a guy name?

A "sham," perhaps -- but it is a very effective device to draw attention to the fact that 103.9 is going away as the listeners know it; and to measure just how many people really care. Ratings are one (and the most accepted) way, but nothing beats a direct response. First Broadcasting gets you to register your name and other information to build a research database (old broadcasters trick done in a new way) and can quantify the level of interest.

It's a foregone conclusion that the 80's format will segue to 92.1 -- "Bob," while not a bad idea, just wasn't going to work (poor signal, no promotion).

As someone who used to work with FB, I can understand why the domain name was registered. May not be that Flash is guaranteed to move to 92.1. May be a preemptive strike just in case they decide to go that way. I heard that when they were trying to name the station last year, someone purchased the domain name to one of the final choices and then tried to sell it for a profit to FB. Perhaps they learned their lesson and are just trying to cover their bases. Then again, what do I know? I was stupid enough to work with them.

How many "Bobs, Jack, Sams, etc. are there around the U.S. to listen to? Leave my few-remaining, decent 80s stations that don't suck alone. The real reason 80s isn't "working" is because they are either mis-programmed or put on toilet signals (like Flash), or kicked around as the mutt of a cluster. Cox radio is the only group I've seen so far that have taken the format seriously, and concequently have some acceptable ratings from those stations. Flash is a pretty decent station, but the drop in ratings for them I feel is attributed to the signal issues. If it had a real signal, they would be at least a 3.5. We all know that's not going to happen though, huh?

You've said that already, more than once. We all know First doesn't listen to any of us, though.

If I were First, I'd loop that song non-stop for the last few days, interspersed with liners telling Flash listeners to move to 92.1 ...
