Voting Begins Tomorrow

Just wanted to let you know that the nominating process starts Monday for induction in to the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. So, I thought we'd kick around the names of some very deserving folks who have not been honored as of yet.

Mark Watkins, Mitch Carr and Bill Grady are three news anchors who have certainly earned the right. I do not think Ira Lipson has been inducted, but I hope makes the cut. I'd also like to see a few more of the KNUS folks get their due, like Beau Weaver, Randy Brown and Tommy Kramer.

If you are not a member, join up-it's 15 bucks. If you are a member, please vote. www.trhof.com

Ira? For what The "HumperPlex" spot? Or the fact that he is the "consultant" that almost kept the Ticket from becoming a top station..... My vote would be NO.

I'd like to throw out a name that some of you may know.

He had a varied career starting in 1956 at KCUL in Fort Worth and moved around the Metroplex for 50, that's right, 50 years. He spent time at KCUL, KBUY, KXOL, KYAL, KJIM, KBEC, KCLE, KTFW and probably a few others. 50 years on the air in D-FW. He retired in June of 2006 at 80 years of age.

I ask you to support a nomination for and to vote for Morgan Choat.

Ted Norman.

WWII hero, came home from flying B-24's and B-17's to sing at WBAP back when radio had studio orchestras. Eventually rose to management - first at WBAP, and then at KSCS, which he largely created. The lil' ol gold miner, and "Country Gold"? His. "Silver Country Stereo"? His. Managed both WBAP TV and KXTX for a time. Still active into his 80's now, although cancer has cost him dearly. In declining health.

One of the kindest, most creative, and energetic peope I know. He's been nominated several times, and I'd love to see him go in while he's still with us.
