VST multiband limiter

For years I've used the db-multiband limiter in my "mastering rack", as a large part of the "secret sauce" i use in achieving my signature sound. But I just can't get direct-x plugins to work with Adobe Audition under Vista. I've been using a freeware VST plugin called the "C-3 Multiband compressor". Anybody found any really good VST plugins of comparable quality to the db-multiband? (A GREAT product...produced by a small British company called "db-audioware").

I say dump Vista and use XP.

Not what I asked, but thanks for playing! (Vista is the OS installed by the manufacturer. "Dumping Vista" means dumping my freakin' warranty! Besides, I'm finally getting it stable.

By the way, XP will cease to be installed on new systems sometime this year, so we ALL need to make our peace with Vista eventually. I wouldn't "upgrade" an existing system (and won't take XP off my laptop), but at some point it's going to be ALL Vista. Service Pack 1 is coming, and besides...I enjoy solving technical problems! I like a challenge. Enough about that. Anybody want to actually answer my question (about a VST multiband limiter)?

I don't have an answer for you, but are you using Audition 3? If not, make that upgrade. Previous versions aren't supported under Vista. So if you'd rather not install XP, the latest Audition might solve your problem. And if not, Adobe should provide plenty of support for the problem.

Izotope Ozone 3 has a multiband compressor/limiter/expander (and a whole lot more). IMO, it is worth every penny. Try the demo!

YES!!! Outstanding plug-in, it adds audio magic and sonic goodness to everything it touches! Though you do need to be careful and not overuse it once you get it... all the goodies on there are tempting but can really ruin your mixes if you're not careful, which rings true for most plug-ins, but especially one as powerful as Ozone3.

I'm going to upgrade to Audition 3 soon. By the way, Audition 2 DOES WORK IN VISTA (for me). All you've got to do is right click when opening, and choose "run as administrator".

I'll try Ozone 3!

Most people can get Audition 2 to work under Vista, but with problems. For you, your DX plugs won't work! And Adobe won't support 2.0 under Vista. They will, however, gladly support 3.0 under Vista. I think it still has a few oddities, though.

There's also the Waves L3 Multimaximizer, which is another multiband limiter. It's not great...Not for the price, anyway. I prefer Ozone, which is about half the price!
