W '08 - Same As It Ever Was

Let's see how the Master Blogger spins Winter 12+:

1) KHOT

2) KEZ

3) KFYI (the #1 News & Talk Station)

4) KNIX

5) KYOT

6) KOOL

7) KMLE

8 KMXP & KUPD tie

9) KT'R ( the #1 #2 News & Talk Station)

10) KZZP

And watch out for KPHX...double digits (a tenth above one)

The KOOL train wreck continues. From # 1 spring '07 to # 2 summer '07 to #4 fall '07 t0 #6 winter '07. I can't remember when they were not in the top 5 in 12 plus. Anyone know what their 25-54 numbers are?

"Same as it ever was" is right.

These ratings are becoming more predictable by the day, except for KOOL.

Either they are geniuses for changing up their sound in anticipation that their core audience is hankering for their high school prom soundtrack (that would be the 70s) or they learned nothing from the Todd Wallace era of a few years ago. Personally, I kinda like their sound, but that's just me. Apparently, there aren't enough of me.

There must be a lesson with The Peak. When they signed on, they played some pretty fun stuff. But now it seems like they play more 90s music and they play everything they do a little more safe. I don't listen as much as I used to and it looks like I'm not alone. I know it's asking too much, but when The Peak really sounded like they programmed it with "their gut" they got better numbers. I bet they've over-researched this puppy and KOOl probably has, too.

When it comes to KFWhyEye, the Nurse and I are beyond impressed! For an AM station to consistently beat back an FM talker with heritage calls owned by TMI$U and pull strong numbers in the demo is a radio rarity. A tip of the fez to the departed Dudeboss, Bruce Jacobs, the Nearly Bald One and JD Windbag. And as far as the Master Blogger goes - mentiroso, mentiroso..pantelones en fuego!

They've got to be partying in the streets over at Clear Channel. The top 4 English language A25-54....all CC.

I would be interested to see the top 3 in each day part as well. Does anyone know who owns am drive, middays, pm drive, nights

So what has changed? It is hard to figure. Maria & Tom along with John are doing a better morning show. Middays they will obviously put someone in there longterm. Camelback is a pro. Might be a little more 70's (as this board has pointed out) the last few weeks but these are ratings from the first three months of the year. Imaging sounds good. Apparently they are live and local all the time. Same PD as last year's #1 and #2 books. What gives?

When Wallace tanked it KOOL just sounded horrible. Gotta say, I think they sound pretty good of late. Am I alone?

KOOL's sound is improving, greatly.... I don't imagine the positive changes I've been hearing have been reflected in the ratings... yet. As far as their freefall in 25-54, my guess is that all the KOOL listeners jumped ship, for the "Holiday Station"... simple as that....They'll all be back by now... Musically, KOOL sounds fresh. The imaging suits KOOL's sound. The morning show has grown on me... They're getting better...less voices talking all at once. The rest of talent is, mostly, spot-on. Tom Peak sounds like he's been anchoring AMs his entire career... now that cat is smooth. Camelback Jack is excellent at being fresh and unaffected; he's got one of the best natural deliveries....And what happened to Liz? You can hear a wide gap when their golden oldies style jocks introduce Queen, Grand Funk and BTO. Classic hits usually calls for a more natural delivery. Seems they're still moving the pieces around as I keep hearing different talents at different times. Glad to hear they got rid of the disco show.....too niche oriented... I think the program director won't let his meat loaf, and is on the right track with a few minor adjustments.

The book that came out today started the 10th of January. There are no holiday numbers in it.

When Wallace was tanking, he had a Cousin Brucie soundalike, blazing up the ramp of The Loadout/Stay by Jackson Brown. It was an uncohesive shambles.

Would anyone know if Kris "Brought back the Fun" Abrams" has chosen these songs with his music director, our is it suggested by the corporate think-tank in NYC? Is this particular music format exclusive to KOOL? The oldies/classic rock combo really works for me.

Tower call on Thursday. I'm bringing the Bushmills to ward off the gnats.

KOOL is right on track to regain what they've lost. They're sounding better and better.

They were a little slow on the draw, but now they're doing exactly what they've needed to do...

Which is to add to the the playlist with lots of good 70's, lite 60's and even some early 80's.

Watch for their numbers to pop again. May take a few books!

4 books in a row down? That's "right on track"?

Neither. They were selected in a music test in Phoenix against a younger target demo. The listeners picked them.

TAR will have to get rid of someone.

I predict that McBland will be back!

Evidently Edna in Sun City does have a voice in the valley

McBland continues to do silly commentaries, but without the silly disco intro bed, every morning. Meanwhile Sun City's Edna is perfectly content reading the McRepublic and watching Channel 8 pledge drives.

As far as the Master Blogger goes (and he really should), Nurse Jeff and I predict the following:

1) He stands a better than 50/50 chance of being beaten by an AM station with no PD in the Spring Book

2) Wearing a paper bag over his head will not prevent the KT'R staff from recognizing who he is.

3) TMISU will ask him if he's seen the recent ratings for WTOP and WIBC.

Say it isn't true with KOOL! What could of led up to the bad ratings?
