So it's a countdown to a WABK trimulcast....

Z-z-z-z-z. No wonder I like my mp3 player.

What's an mp3 player? :) If I'm not listening to 'VOM, 'DME or AM910, I'm still using CDs. Or listening to wind rush thru an open window. (but that's only if I forget to leave a CD or 2 in the car)

From the W-Bach website:

. For those of you listening now at 104.7 in Southern Maine, you can still access WBACH’s programming on line at wbachradio.com. We thank all of you listeners in Southern Maine for being with us these many years and we thank the large number of businesses which have supported the station with advertising.

In some parts of southern ME you can probably get a good signal from WCRB. And if you have an HD radio you can get classical coming from NH on WEVO-HD2. (but for some reason they do not have the HD-2 on the other NHPR signals).

WMEA HD2 has Classical 24 for the Portland area. Still, this is a sad day for classical music in Maine.

Here's audio of the flip:

Whatever the permanent format is, they have to come to grips with the fact that 104.7 is at best a weak rimshot into Portland. From what I've heard so far, the new owner has a lot to learn about propagation. Very classy send-off from Scott Hooper, anyway...

Could WBACH make a return to the 106.3 stick? Which bills better, Bone or WBACH? Does Mr. Binnie have a personal preference? What's better, Old Milwaukee, or Milwaukee's best?

Find out the answer to these and other compelling questions, as the slow wheels of license transfers churn through the fall!

Cheers,
OldPort

Did that just come on very recently? Every time I've picked up WMEA in HD, there's been no HD2.

a new Rhythmic CHR, "Hot 104.7," launching with 5,000 songs in a row.

Listening for a little bit - sounds good, this is going to be an interesting battle with WJBQ!

Not sure it's really a rhythmic CHR, though. Granted, it's a bit more rhythmic than the Q from what's been played so far, but Hot 104.7 compared to Q97.9 seems a lot more like 103.3 AMP Radio vs. Kiss 108 rather than a return of WRED.

Rhythmic-leaning might be a better term, I'll concede, but it's fair to say they're trying to skew a bit younger and hipper than the Q. I wonder if they have the resources to truly compete; their corporate website is a GeoCities-esque 1990s throwback, complete with blinking text.

Here's the All Access take on the flip; Jay Dowe is on board as GSM, so it can't be all bad...

Not much of a battle when your coverage is 1/3 of your competitor. But it doesn't take much in a top 100 market to generate enough money to make it worth going to work every day.
