W-C-V-Me

According to a Press Release from MeTV/Weigel, Hearst Broadcasting, which just recently had a run in with Time Warner, has announced five new markets for MeTV...and among them is Boston's WCVB...assuming 5.2 on digital. It joins fellow Hearst station WMUR Manchester's 9.2 for the classic TV service.

But this leaves a big question...what happens to WMFP 62.1, which carries MeTV on a part-time basis ala sister station WSAH 43.1 Bridgeport?

It would be nice for a better Hartford area affiliate to pick up Me-TV. WSAH is not available to everyone and they don't play the full 24-hr. schedule. A good choice would be WVIT 30.3 if they were to be able to strike a deal.

How soon does 5 start a 10pm newscast?

Probably not very. Other markets where the 10pm blocked other ME programs, there was such an outcry, they've axed it.
They're better off leaving ME-tv alone.

If WCVB 5.2 get cable clearance and also runs the 24 hour feed , WMFP 62.1 won't really be needed for OTA and Cable subs. Only those with Directv and DISH would need 62 to stay afloat since the Satellite companies don't broadcast sub-channels. Let's hope WMFP and WSAH (NY/CT) gets into the mix and show less informercials. But based on what they have done in the past , I don't think they will change much . Good news for the Boston Market . I do agree that CT does need ME-TV somewhere in the market. 30.3 would be a good choice since they used to have Universal Sports on 30.3 until it was taken off , so we know they have had 2 sub-channels in the past. As for the Western Mass, the only only choice would be WWLP 22.1 , but they currently have the COOL TV on 22.2

Yes, even WGGB would be a great choice. I get that on my antenna in central CT. They can add a 40.3 if possible. All they have is the main WGGB on 40.1 and FOX6 on 40.2, no actual subchannel.

There's still nobody in Hartford/New Haven carrying that channel. I don't get anything from WSAH-TV of Bridgeport here in southern Hartford County. Nothing from Springfield for digital TV either (22, 40 and 57 were never watchable in the analog days here).

It will be great to get MeTV 24/7 on WCVB 5.2, including "Svengoolie". The nice thing now will that we'll be able to get MeTV up in New Hampshire WMUR 9.2 AND also in the Boston area on WCVB 5.2 . I was hoping to support WMFP 62.1. But the infomercials were a pain in butt. So, here we are.

I live in Fairfield County, CT (NYC market), so I have WSAH, infomercials and all    . And so far not a single NYC station will take up MeTV. But for Time Warner Cable subscribers in Manhattan, they have MeTV...and they claim it's the 24/7 feed, not WSAH. I wonder how that is possible. I am also calling on some station in the Hartford/New Haven market to air it. I know WCCT 20.2 has This TV, WTIC 61.2 has Antenna TV. On cable (Cablevision of CT), I do not get This TV, but I get Antenna TV (both are off of WPIX sub channels).

Good luck with that, RObert, and nice choice of thread title.

I don't doubt that. But I wonder if WMUR (also Hearst) is getting complaints about their News 9 at 10. Then again, given the competition at 10 in Boston, the Manchester situation may be a moot point.

IMHO, MeTV STINKS! ! ! From what I've seen of Antenna TV, a much better selection of classic shows and the quality of the actual transmission of the broadcast is so much better. Like I said, just my opinion

Yea, But ME-TV is one of the more profitable sub channels.

Of all the "retro" type networks available I would love to see Antenna TV come to WMFP or any other Boston station. It would have been great if WMFP had RTV, MeTV and Antenna TV. Seeing that 62.1 is carried on cable, Dish Network and Direct TV and has one of the strongest OTA signals. If they could get the subs carried I think they would be a local "Superstation". Well at least until 10pm ;D

Here in CT, things just got zany. Not sure of when it happened but Bridgeport's WSAH changed calls to WZME and all top hour ID's go by MeTV New York with the legal ID WZME Bridgeport/New York

UPDATE: WSAH became WZME Monday.

How is that zany? Stations change calls all the time to better reflect what they are doing lately. We Shop At Home was a little stale given that SATH hasn't existed for 5 or 6 years.

Great! Let's move RTV to 62.1 and put MundoFox on 62.2! And maybe add Estrella TV on 62.3 and Azteca America on 62.4. I miss watching Enrique Gratas.
