Finally got to take a look at the W&J ratings. FREAKING KILLING IT - from 31st to 4th in M25-54 is a ridiculous improvement. Mancow and Savage had better watch out. At this rate 950 could be W&J 5a-8p. I must at last admit that the councilman might, and I mean might, not be a total idiot afterall. In fact, if I owned a start up AM and needed a programmer, I'd at least give him an interview.

Here's my take on it. I've been listening to W&J since 97. I live in Lake Charles and heard them on AM there, then when I moved to Houston in 01, they moved over to 101 a few weeks later. I couldn't have been happier.

My reasons for liking the show is fact that serious topics are discussed with a comedic twist. At the same time, you don't have to listen to "canned laughter" like you do with other morning shows. They aren't right wing nut cases, I'd describe their politics as more libertarian. They are conservatives, which is different than republican. They are not Bush supporters like they have been accused of several times on this board. Quite the contrary, they don't agree with his politics at all.

Just my views as a listener.

Don't forget that you can hear The Chronicle every morning!
They aren't bad and have a fairly large following.
I can't seem to get them on my radio but know they're available if the AUX button breaks.

So, what exactly is wrong with discussing news items that are also also reported in the Chronicle? Seems lately the Chronicle is full of AP new reports anyway.

I love that they're on from 5am to noon but they run the same segments too much when they're not live from 5am to 5:30 and 10-12.

I LOVE that all you supposed radio "insiders" trashed walton and johnson when CC moved them over. Oh, they would fail, they were tired, they were washed up. Yes, I will admit it, I thought they would NEVER make it on the AM dial. But i can at least ADMIT: i was DEAD WRONG.

the rest of you are still struggling to say the words, like the lame Happy Days episode where the Fonz couldn't say "I'm sorry." Admit it, CC got this one right. Barry, Martini and all their cronies nailed this one. Trust me, they'll get plenty more wrong, and it will be fun to point that out. but as a guy on the outside, you people can't ever give credit where it's due.

Friends of mine in Beaumont wondered what happened to them after they were gone from 103.7.....I must admit, I thought it was not a great idea putting them on 950....but obviously the ratings say otherwise! Of course, my friends in the BPT area cant hear them on 950 until late in the morning (too much cochannel noise from the time service in Cuba on 950!).

Me? I am waking up to Jack and listen to them most of the day (funny thing on that...when Cumulus' former market manager left for Atlanta and another group, I told him that 103.7 needed something like an old Top40 format....a classic hits; he agreed something needed to be done to justify the $32mill spent for the freq and this was BEFORE the tower, etc was built (JACK was not in Dallas either iirc)...can anyone say what the numbers on 103.7 are? Probably better than anything else they have had on either rimshot (97.5 or 103.7) so far, but when I listen to WLS's rewind from Memorial Day, I realize PERSONALITY is still IT....and would be a killer on JACK with the right people and music.

Jack numbers: KHJK: Adults 25-54 Average SHARE: December ppm:M-Fri 6a-10a 1.6, 10-3p 1.6, 3-7 1.9.
I can't compute how this was with Rock 103.7 but the station was ranked usually 20 or below with W& J in the top 10 Adults and Men. This is not fact, based on recal only.

I see the ratings and just can't believe it. W&J were on in Dallas with a lot of promotion and their ratings tanked. They were horrible.
What does that say about the radio landscape in Houston? Not much to choose from.
