W-OOOOO-MC

Wikipedia claims that Scott Walker did fire 4 long time people to make his mark on the station, but it also claims he took it to number one using Drake like jingles and imaging plus employing old time Detroit vets like Dick Purtan , Ted Richards, and Lisa Lisa. Based on that,
Scott Walker is either a grandstanding diva ( "When Purtan rears his head, where does he go?") or a wonder child of programming. I would assume until the real thing arrives Monday morning, maybe both.

ROFLMAO

In Summer of 2007 when Scott Walker started at WOMC they were in 10th place.

In his final full book in the Summer of 2008 WOMC is in a TIE FOR 15TH PLACE.

If Scott Walker is feeding this BS, he does not know how to read Arbitron.

As anyone can edit Wikipedia, I have corrected it and suggest you do the same when Scott Walker edits it back:

[edit] WOMC today
The station is home to Detroit radio legend Dick Purtan, who has hosted WOMC's morning show since 1996 and has signed a new five-year contract to keep him on the airwaves until 2011. Another former Detroit radio legend, Ted "The Bear" Richards hosts the afternoon drive. The station is often criticized by oldies aficionados for its tight playlist, and has not made it into a single digit ranking in several years according to Arbitron. In the Summer Arbitron of 2007, WOMC was in 10th place. One year later, in the Summer of 2008 under the guidance of Scott Walker who wanted to leave a mark on the station (see above) the station was down from 10th to a tie for 15th place. Scott Walker then left WOMC for a station in Tampa Bay where the GM said that Top 5 wasnt good enough. WVMV Program Directer John Sleeker is in charge for now. Former WKQI program director Dom Theodore will take over on January 1.

I'll verify and agree with everything "UUill" says. Shark and Kate are around 30 I believe... In fact, I knew Shark when he broke outta Gainesville and got the evening gig at WJRR around 1994. The guy knows music and is an excellent program director. HOWEVER, you must realize that his hands are tied with WPOI. My best guess... the station has not been given some kind of a budget increase. In fact, when Nick Sanders was cut loose, Shark was already on staff and was basicly given the gig to freshen and keep the Point competitive. If I'm wrong, someone in the know please correct me... but from what I hear is simply a station that has tossed in some younger talent that was already employed reading liner cards. And let's be honest, the jocks from 97X were the closest to sounding "real".
I will second that for you and "UUill." Joel (now Joe Elliott) was a part timer at X and Dick was a part timer/ traffic at X. Good guys but it is ironic that they lived and breathed the X music and both get a shot noe with 80's music. I think they might be the age of 40 combined... if even that. AND Shark has improved the music!! Finally WPOI is playing Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, and more, rather than switching from hair band to ballad. I've never listened to WPOI very much until recently. Thanks Shark!

I'm just trying to tell you like it is with this guy, nobody gets fired from a station after they took it to # one and leaves a top ten market to come to market # 19. He was out of work when he took the job at Q105. As I said before, check into why he was fired from his Jacksonville PD job before WOMC on HR issues. This is not a nice man...he is a back stabber to 1st degree and will do what ever it takes to cover his own ever expanding ass!
Hope to talk to soon.

It figures he is a cat person....From http://wrbq.fm/pages/3553147.php
Join Scott weekdays while you work from 10am to 3pm. The picture shows Scott in his natural habitat…The On-Air Studio. He’s been on the air in Oklahoma City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Jacksonville, and now Tampa Bay! Scott loves playing the hits on Q105. It’s all the great music he grew listening to. He also has a passion for sports especially playing golf on great courses like the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. Scott has three grown daughters who live in Phoenix, Chicago and Ponte Vedra. He also has a son Ryan who plays High School football. Scott enjoys hanging out with his wife Rhonda and their five cats, Chase, Fletch, Cloie, Gracie and Bella.

I think Feminist Theory explains it all. Back in the days of origional TOP 40 , programmers envisioned millions of young stay at home moms in their 20's and 30's with disposable incomes. Hubby took the train to the city to work at a huge ad agency or draw cartoons for Mad Magazine. He was gone over twelve hours. Radio filled the void with warm and personable daytime jocks with names like Handsome Henry, Handsome Harry, Roger Christian, or even Marvelous Marvin. I don;t think anybody believes anyone is home listening to radio from 10-3, hence this is becoming a void like overnights. Hence Tesh. He is kinda like those guys, but off the bird. Same thing with Tom Kent. Back then radio thought all teen-agers listened from 7-12. Now they are glued to You Tube with tongues stuck to the mouse, not the bright kids in Grease. Tom Kent appeals old baby boomer ladies like me who want the old days and he is off the bird. Now----everybody tell me every way I'm wrong. :p

CBS has apparently done it's research and that says to make the changes you are now hearing.

WRBQ had done no research in upwards of 4 years. What you have here is some out of towners (and egos from WQYK) trying to gain internal position in a turf war while still in the honeymoon period.

Objectively speaking, the new 'RBQ jock page on the web site looks like a bunch of sad, depressing old men (with the exception of Nikki of course). Why post the pictures if that's what they look like?
