Just wondering when the (SCT) of mexico did a mistake when giving 690 the call letters XEWR which are aquired by another station in Cuidad Jaurez, Mexico.

Why is it that XHBCE 105.7, XESS 620, and XESDD 1030 still have the same call letters as XHBCE 92.1, XESDD 920, and XESS 1450, I know when XESS and XESDD where slated to have the frequencys 920 and 780 that those stations in Ensenada where going to sign off, but going back to my question if those stations are still on the air in Ensenada why is it that the (SCT) allows it.

Probably just a mistake. Calls are relatively unimportant outside the USA, so anyting can happen. I recall one time we needed to know our calls at Mega 98.3 in Buenos Aires (A US company, typically, would not ship to us without call letters to "complete their form."). Nobody at the station kinew them, so we called the goverment, where it took them 2 days to figure out what they were...

Oh thanks for that insight David E, but now that I mentioned 105.7 in my first thread do you think either (BCA) or Pacific Spanish Network could possibly change the call letters XEPRS FM just to match 1090. And get this calling the station DOUBLE EXPRESSO SPORTS. Wouldn't that sound great any ideas anyone.

I think that XPRS should try to snap up the XETRA call letters. Othewrise, 91X will be the only station with them, and will be able to call themselves XTRA in the market. Not saying they would do that, but would MightXX want to take that chance?

Just a thought...

How about XEDRIN? Good for hangovers?

XERLVNT? "Ex-relevant"?

XEIMPRT? "Ex-importante"?

XESQCH "Escuche"?

hey, that last one's not half bad....

You may have missed these pearls:

XEWIFE - all divorce radio.

XEPERT - all expert radio programming advice starring David Eduardo.

XEPLODE - all sound effects.

XECEED - music to drive too fast by, kind of like KHJ's car radio fiasco.

XETRA - extra news over Los Angeles - 2 guys reading the AP and UPI wires, would probably beat KFWB and tie KNX.

or XE-ILE - programming for exiles from Mexico. Oh, wait a minute, that's what they're doing now.

If (BCA) and (FCB) joined forces maybe they could aquire the XETRA call letters for 1090, or better yet John Lynch should trade 1090 for 690 and turn 105.7 into a oldies station, huh huh sounds like a good idea right. :)

Sounds great for Lynch. However, the owners of 690 are not going to sell. I do not think they have ever sold a station, in fact. And that is out of the 1200 they own or control.

mteren5 sounds like Bryan Wellander.

Thanks garret! Whats the differnce between 690 and 1090 in L.A. David E, they have the same coverage but in the east county you cant get 1090 do to nearby radio interfernce.

690 is a vastly better frequency and the 77,000 daytime power helps, too. XEPRS is not listenable in LA except right along the OC coast up to Long Beach, and right on the shore all the way beyond Malibu. XETRA gets a bit more inland, but both succumb to the LA nose level not too far inland.

Both were designed as border blasters in an era when there was not much noise and when people actually listend to AM and listened to AM at night.

XEPRS in East County

>, they have the same coverage but in the east county you cant get 1090 do to nearby radio interfernce.

Almost true: you can not get XEPRS in east county because of signal/pattern coverage. Take a drive on the 8 and head east ... the Tavern Road exit at beautiful Alpine. At the beginning, you'll get XEPRS, by the time you hit the stop sign (it's a l o n g exit), you'll get nuttin.

And, allow me to add to that, since I've lived in El Cajon TWICE in the past 10 years; 1090 was a finiky signal just a block away from the 8, while 690 and 600 boomed in just fine.
