W227AV Chiefland, yes, Chiefland!

The W227AV translator on 93.3 has traveled down the road a bit and now resides on the WLQH-AM 940 tower in Chiefland! Rebroadcasting the WZCC/WLQH simulcast of Scott Shannons True Oldies Channel with full 250 watts ERP. Listeners of Party 99.5 that was being re-transmitted on this 10 watt flame-thrower in Newberry are no doubt sad.

Congratulations with your recent FM addition to the Suncoast station family.

Hey John,

I know that was a long time in the works. Congrats.

It can actually still be heard, in spots, in Gainesville, but is getting pounded by 93.3 from Tampa this afternoon.

Suncoast has built a neat little group there from not very much to start with. Lots of work no doubt - way to go! Good to see small town radio growing.

Drove by the old Newberry site last night, I tuned to 93.3 to see if it had moved yet and heard WJBT. I had my answer...

Congrats, hope FLZ doesnt give you trouble.

Correction: I thought WFLZ was hammering the translator in Gainesville tonight, but it was actually WJBT. Interesting that the 10W Newberry translator actually overcame a pretty powerful signal from WJBT most of the time.

Great, another station on 93.3 that you really can't hear thanks to flamethrowers on 93.3 in Jax and Tampa. ;D

I was afraid that WFLZ was going to cause us the most trouble but they dont really go much further into Levy Co than a few miles N of Inglis. WJBT was heard off and on before we did the move and is covered up well in our 60db contour, a little flutter the further out we get east and northeast. We have had signal reports from Gville and between Newberry and Trenton, pretty solid in Trenton. Sadly lots of WJBT beating us up in Cross City.

Thanks for the kind comments and signal reports.

JE, It appears that your 54 dBu contour just misses Cross City by a little shy of 5-miles. Is that correct? The Chiefland coverage is impressive. Congratulations!!!

Signal starts getting beat up by Callahan a few miles north of Old Town. The Radio-Locator map is pretty accurate for Cross City, but we have had several very good signal reports from Bell at about the same distance, one reporting good reception inside their house. Also good reports from Bronson.
