W244DV 96.7 Marysville

Just heard WQTT's top of the hour identify now as W244DV, which matches information on Radio Locator. What still doesn't match is their transmitting site as they continue to broadcast from the AM site.

So? a translator isn't required to broadcast from a tower within their city of license.. and a translator has no city of license coverage requirements either, so it doesn't have to put a listenable signal over the entire city

But if the application to the FCC shows them broadcasting from a cell tower 4 or so miles East of the actual location, isn't that an issue? Not to mention if you look at their supposed listenable pattern on radiolocator, there is no way they are using the pattern shown as the station comes in like a local in Plain City, Dublin, etc.

If theyre broadcasting from somewhere other then where theyre licensed from, yes that's an issue.. but can you prove it?

And as for their listenable pattern on radio locator.. thats just an estimation based upon licensed power and height, doesnt take into account any kind of terrain ,adjacent channel stations or anything

Drive by their AM site. You'll see two circular polarized antennas on the side of one of their AM towers. While you're there, try tuning into 96.3 or 97.1. You will find that those two second-adjacent signals are almost silent for the 10 seconds or so that you're in front of their land. I may have been born at night, but...

The transmitter site they are using is 1.6 miles east of the AM site on the left. It is a cell site located by some high tension electric lines. It is an SCA-4 directional antenna. It is clearly visible from the ground. Basically a yagi antenna. The FM antenna at the
am site was the old 98.7 antenna that was/is no longer in use due to the frequency change requirement.

Was this move recent? On Thursday night into Friday I noticed 96.7 was barely listenable in Marysville- almost like someone with a lower-power transmitter was broadcasting dead air on the same frequency.
