W248DD

I feel bad for lots of the people in our area that love WCOS, the Spartanburg translator really ruins it for the upstate above the Laurens area. 97.5 is pretty popular statewide, not just in the Columbia area, although I'm sure in Iheart's case they dont really care anyway because its not local advertising. But regardless the 97.5 is overlapped in the area as WCOS normally would put a decent signal into most of the Spartanburg area. Now with W248DD, which broadcasts from near Pacolet, has many issues near Jonesville and Union, even with their big null to the SE towards Union. It's still bad as these areas once gotta clean WCOS signal, and new its so bad you can't hear either one in most of Union County SC. in Whitmire WCOS sounds fine, but anything above there and its a fight for the channel, especially in most of the city of Union. Sometimes even close to the target signal area W248DD will be drowned out by WCOS. I think 97.5 is a bad choice for the Spartanburg translator, maybe another channel would work better, or better yet just make it a simulcast of WCOS...

I have not been able to listen to WCOS in at least a year or two. The FCC permitted one of the Local "AM Sports Stations" to put up a Transponder (or equivalent) on the FM Band in Charlotte, NC on 97.5 MHz. So I've not been up to keep up with the WCOS Radio Personalities as a result, even if I go to visit Family in South Carolina. This truly sucks. Some of the people I know are even starting to sell their FM DX'ing Gear these days. Which does not surprise me in the least as a result of all these LP FM's being let loose to run on the FM Airwaves. Steve.

Charlotte I think is another bad choice for a translator on 97.5 as well for the same reason plus 97.3 interference there (maybe its not that bad) but it is a secondary target for WKBC there as well. Others in that area like 102.5 and 98.7 and 93.7 just are too much for the Charlotte area when adjacent markets signals normally would make it into Charlotte. I miss WFBC B93.7 from Greenville reaching Charlotte easily many years ago, now its pretty much impossible in most of the area.

As far as WCCP / WAHT (105.5 / 97.5) other than Clemson and Greenville probably no one cares or listens to the station except live games. 105.5 is closer to Clemson and already serves most of the area. Maybe move them back to 104.9 if they wanna reach further since they already moved from 104.9 to 105.5 and the new station at 104.9 also went to a sports talk format that also overlaps. What a waste of a signal. 97.5 could be a better channel if WCOS was allowed to reach those cities once again, but Iheart doesn't care, it would hurt their sister stations (WKKT / WSSL)

I believe Iheart still owns 104.9 in Greenville, maybe a nice swap with 105.5 Clemson would be nice for both (oh wait they already did). In that case 104.9 can remain the sports talk and 105.5 can be a new station maybe a different country station
