W261BX "Heaven 100.1" goes alternative

It appears the mystery of the direction of WBPT HD2 may have been answered. W261BX which had been rebroadcasting WBHJ HD3 (WAGG-AM) has changed format to alternative rock as "X 100-1". I haven't heard their station ID yet with "WBPT HD2" mentioned, however, so no idea if W261BX is now rebroadcasting WBPT's HD2 or still relaying WBHJ HD3.

Just heard station ID given as "WBPT HD2, Homewood...W261BX, Birmingham".

Patterned exactly after Summit’s X98.5 in Greenville, which isn’t a bad alternative station. I think it’s been around 11-12 years now.

What do you think WAGG will do to get back on FM in Birmingham?
You make it sound like WAGG is a sentient being that was robbed of its FM. SummitMedia made the determination to take the Gospel format off of FM for business purposes seeing more profitability through working with their indie reps to make money through cloning their brand in Greenville/Spartanburg.

So I would find it doubtful WAGG ever gets back on FM unless Summit sells the AM or its IP to someone building a Gospel brand off of it.

I never said they were robbed of their FM. I am saying WAGG is a good station and also deserves to be on FM as well and Summit Media hopefully will find a FM translator to get it back on FM. Gospel is profitable especially in Birmingham.
