W276BH moving into the city on 103.1

Another STA filed today to remain off the air citing the economy again.

I do find this funny since translators don't sell advertising.

On another note I was very impressed by coverage of the 102.1, 107.3 and especially the 104.1 Translators in Birmingham. I lost 104.1 at Cordova, AL the others disappeared much sooner.

In Atlanta 94.5 97.9 98.9 92.3 and 93.7 were doing really well also.

I heard 94.5 to about or west of Douglasville, GA which was also impressive for a translator. You would never think 94.5 was a translator. They had some unique processing also. It didn't sound bad like most FM's these days.

processing and everything on all of these were excellent. Some sounded better than the full 100kw competitors. I think they all had RDS running.

I would love to see our 103.1 purchased and an HD2 leased and a station like Birmingham Mountain Radio, Lightning 100, or Radio 105.7 in Atlanta put on it. They all have broke the norm and sound refreshing for a change.
 
It can easily be diplexed into an existing antenna. That is exactly what EMF is about to do with 99.3 on the WKNO tower.

A diplexer combines more than one transmitter into the same antenna while isolating them from each other.

You will probably see the translators transmitter output will be set higher than it's actually licensed power in many cases to account for losses in the diplexer and feedline.
 
The W250BC 97.9 250w Atlanta tower has about a good 40 mile radius here in Atlanta. The only issue with translators is penetration. Once you go inside or go under the slightest covering, it dies. As a former Memphian, I am happy you guys are getting all of these translators. The translators here have taken advantage of the loopholes in FCC laws allowing HD sub channels to be rebroadcast onto translators.
 
I found the 94.5 t/lator to have quite awesome coverage also. I heard it farther West going out of town than the others. The others may be suffering more from co-channel noise.
 
You are correct. It does have better coverage on the west side. I live out east of the ATL and it is okay out here. When I used to live directly under the WMC tower, channel 5 and FM100 would bleed everywhere on the TV dial and the radio dial. Hopefully W276BH doesn't get drowned out either by them.
