Birmingham W291DC 106.1 Birmingham now rebroadcasting WBHM HD2

W291DC at 106.1 is now rebroadcasting WBHM HD2. The station will be known as "The Hub 106.1".

I'm glad that WBHM has finally turned this on, as it's been several years in the making. As I understand, the source material is a "preview mix" of the massive flood of interesting podcasts, news features and not-the-main-NPR-shows that come into and are stored at public media company Public Radio Exchange (PRX). What I heard in the demo was captivating -- IMHO the best of "old-school" public radio in a linear broadcast. Wish I could hear what WBHM has done with it down here in Baton Rouge, but you can sample the source stream at PRX Remix . I wish nothing but the best for WBHM in doing this.

To hear what they are doing right now, download/open the WBHM app. Under the listen tab, you'll find a link for The Hub HD2 on 106.1. Right now (5:21pm CT on 9/30/25), it's World Cafe. Understand that they will likely move things around as they adjust what they do with the channel. Good for WBHM for doing this.

on topic: maybe they just have the programming for the community but I wonder they'll have classical format on wbhm hd3

off topic: K-Love still on 96.1 in Birmingham maybe they simulcast by wkvv 97.3?
