W6X??? Mt. Diablo TV?

I Was scanning on my pocket TV and I notice that there was an experimental TV station below channel 14. Not 13, but Below CH 14 UHF dial. Does anybody knows any Experiment TV station that transmits from Mt. Diablo in Concord?

Hi,

Channel 24 starts at 470 MHz. Between 450 and 470 MHz is used for Securtiy, Police, Fire, etc. I doubt that any vdieo would appear there, either by design or by accident. Too much bandwidth on video.

However, 420-450 MHz is teh Amateur Radio 70cm band and there is ATV (Amateur Televison) on that band. In fact there are ATV repeaters on the band but I do not know if there is one on Mt. Diablo.

My guess is that what you are seeing is an ATV signal.

Take that guess to the bank. I definitely recall stumbling upon ATV transmissions on that very channel when I was at the Tournament of Roses Parade four or five years ago. Good thing I brought my Watchman.

TORRA (the radio club which provided Amateur Radio support to the parade until 2004) used cameras in strategic locations to track the floats. The cameras switched about every 60 seconds.

BTW: Sadly, TORRA is not supporting communications at this year's parade due to a falling-out with parade officials.
