WAAF Back to Worcester?

OK here is what happened.

When WAAF applied to move to the WUNI-TV tower, they were still licensed to Worcester. That application and subsiquent construction permit therefor was/is listed and filed as "Worcester". It's how the FCC database works.

WAAF then applied to change the city of LICENSE to Westborough, the FCC approved the change, and thus the LICENSED facility (Paxton) was changed from Worcester to Westborough.

The license to cover for the WUNI tower would have automatically been updated for Westborough upon grant of the license.

What I wonder is, how long can WAAF run from the WUNI-TV site under it's program test authority it is using now to operate from there.

You could drive from Boston to the Berkshires and never lose it.

That's specifically why we named the local music show "Bay State Rock" instead of something Boston oriented - you could literally get WAAF's signal from Pittsfield to Provincetown, hence "Bay State".

There was one book when WAAF got ratings in Hartford, Albany NY, Providence, Manchester NH, New Bedford, Springfield, Boston, and of course Worcester. This was before WHJY, WPYX, and WGIR FM were rock stations. I'm recalling showing up in 10 markets, that's 8 of 'em, not sure what the other two were - possibly Lebanon NH ?

Today you would have to rename the show "Worcester County Rock"....

Lebanon NH hasn't been an official market for long, however it was not uncommon to catch WAAF in Sullivan County (Newport, Claremont). In fact I recall seeing the occasional AAF bumper sticker in these towns.
