Radio One closes in Cincinnati. Radio One announced today that it has completed the acquisition of WIFE-FM for $18 million, and the acquisition of the intellectual property assets of WMOJ-FM for $5 million in cash. WIFE-FM has been launched in the Cincinnati market with an Urban Adult Contemporary format effective today. In connection with the transactions, the company has changed the call sign of WIFE-FM to WMOJ-FM. In Cincinnati, Radio One also owns WIZF-FM and operates WDBZ-AM, a Black News/Talk station, under an LMA.

Radio One's dilemma's

From what I read, Radio One took a blow this year for 2 main reasons:1 - the cash needed to get TV One up and running, and 2- getting rid of Steve Harvey's morning show on LA's the Beat (KKBT) and replacing it with an NBA star. So to make up for their mistakes, Boston radio listeners took the hit.

Radio One made a BUSINESS decision, of their own free will. Nobody forced them or coerced them to do anything. When you have your OWN license, you are free to do what YOU want to do. There is no conspiracy here. Let it alone, already...

Radio stations change owners/formats all of the time. Deal with it...
