WAAF Program Director out

Since no one else has bothered to post this "news", I'll report it:

Radio and Records is reporting that WAAF's Program Director, Ken SomebodyOrOther, has tendered his resignation.

Again, I have no real reason to post it other than I wanted to post it before Joe Gallant did. However, unlike Joe, I won't "wonder", "speculate", "suspect", or just plain old guess what might or might not happen or who may or may not disappear from the station at this point since, like Joe, I have no radio industry inside info.

I'll leave that part to Joe.

He's running a consulting group, Mittcom Consulting, http://www.mittcom.com. They were located in Natick, but they're in the process of moving somewhere in Newton.

Keith Hastings got tons of e mails and letters about Carmelita's show when he took one hour away, leaving her with one hour.

The local community got her that hour back. I like Carm, but there is no difference between her show and Chris Rucker's show and Z-Sid's show (when he had it) - like, really, if yer going to play local music don't everyone clone everyone else's show. No wonder The River dumped the local show, and FNX only gives it an hour. Wonder what the new PD will do with Bay State Rock.

Gotta give Carm credit for all the years she's put in, but all these local music shows have gotten stale (except for some on college radio, and Doug Mascott's excellent ability to blend the old with the new).

As usual this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, and if you actually think "the local community" (like you're a representative of that) had anyting to do with that you're high.

I do find it strange that Hastings would quit now when in a few short months the station will more than likely eat wbcn's lunch for them when howard is gone.

What I CAN say

We received an e-mail from the GM informing us that Keith would be leaving at the end of July.

Nobody will say where. As I understand it, it's his choice. He's probably been made one of those offers that does right by his family, and challenges him.

I've enjoyed working with him. But, he's moving on, and the next guy they hire better be ready to continue the progress we're making.

...or I'll get fired. Whatever :)

Mittman is about as welcome in that building as a hot dog vendor at a PETA rally!

Of course. The point is to keep Santa Jose Gallant out of a thread at all possible costs.:) You know he's lurking out there and ready to pounce.

"La única estación que realmente oscila!"
The only station that really rocks!

#1 - anyone who knows me knows I'm an opponent of drugs.
Don't deflect your personal problems on other people, "Rumor"

#2 - Gee - having interviewed in-depth more local rockers than you've
ever met (not to mention getting hired to write about the scene
for the past 30 years in various magazines and other media),
one thinks Rumor Control needs his meds - and to stop mixing them
with the illicit narcotics that clearly muddle his thinking process

#3 Keith Hastings decision with Carmelita had plenty to do with this topic.
It is too bad you are so out of touch you haven't a clue to the
community's response and Hastings backing down and giving her back her
hour.

Once again, Rumor Control has no facts, won't reveal who he is, just throws
mud in some hopeless attempt to eradicate his low self-esteem.
