Now the smart thing to do--if it's still possible--would be to move 107.3 back to the old stick in Paxton. Then WAAF really would have the best coverage of any Boston FM--Boston to Springfield and beyond.

why get rid of such a great radio station which recently trounced WBCN in the ratings?

This is not good. WILD gave the Boston area good music and a different blend. It was the last time I heard a record on the radio that I just had to get ahold of - Walter Hawkins' Gospel stuff on a Sunday! WAAF is just more homogenized junk. Wrath Of Khan? Where's Captain Kirk to hit the Genesis button?

Well, going from the "Wild Thing" to a robotic voice, counting down the switch to a WAAF simulcast seems a little anti-climatic. We all know that at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, WAAF will be also on 97.7 FM. (wow.....). Maybe they can finally kibosh that weak Boylston site and go back to Paxton and truly use the entire coverage area from Springfield to Boston. (Oooops, that would make too much sense.)

You hit the nail on the head with your post. There are a lot of radio commentators analyzing the market to death yet you never heard them pay attention to WILD and how they trounced WBCN for a few books in the ratings.
