Saw the item on R&R and Inside Radio about Bernie Dittman's sudden passing. Though he'll rightly be remembered as one of Alabama's great broadcasters, WABB has been a major factor in Pensacola for the past 30 years--going unchallenged as Pcola's premier CHR/Top 40 in 100+ Arbitron reports. Bernie rarely took or got credit as his star-studded lineup of PDs & ATs came and went, but his fellow radio execs always understood that he was the brains behind the station that continues to be one of the very best CHR operations in America. As such, Bernie's death signifies a great loss not only for the radio industry, but also for the listening public. Mr. Dittman understood what great radio was all about, and built a juggernaut that reflected great radio on a daily basis for three decades. He will be missed.
