WABC 770 in HD - for Connecticut?

I was excited to hear about the Imus return, but unfotunetely, WABC does not come in really well in my car, at least not as well as 660 did. It's strange because I thought they were the same wattage.

Anyway, I thought maybe buying an HD Radio would help get it in better. I commute up the eastern shore everyday and would love to be able to listen to Imus on the way.

Help! Anybody in the New Haven area that can speak for the quality of the HD 770am signal?

thanks!!

When Imus is on-on the normal analog signal with the bandwidth adjustments to accommodate the digital signal-expect him to be unintelligible.

So the quality of the sound during that time will be horrible. I doubt you will get Imus in IBOC Digital in Connecticut.

That's idiotic and not at all helpful.

WABC's analog during iboc hours is excellent (the programming is awful) I've posted examples on the "hd" board.

As for digital reception at that distance with the current generation of radios, it's doubtful. Make sure you can return the set if you are not sucessful.

It's strongest near the CT shore, and weakens a lot as you go inland. NYC AM stations did not come in at Hartford/Meriden during the day
You'll be fine along I-95

Wrong! I get WCBS-AM 880 here in New Britain (southwest of Hartford) just fine during the day...as long as my AM loop antenna is in the right direction. As for WABC-AM 770, they'll have a weaker signal due to transmitting from New Jersey and not having their transmitter by salt water like WCBS-AM 880 (the High Island section of the Bronx is much closer to me than the Meadowlands area is).

well i live up here in franklin mass 20m ins from boston and i get wabc and wcbs like i'm in new york during the day and night of course i have a hd radio but i am too far to get the hd signal i get analog all day but my local channels wbz and whjj are hd and the quality is ok. hope i could help :-*

77 WABC transmits from Lodi NJ. Its 648-foot tower is at the southeast corner of I-80 and Route 17.

Also, WFAN puts a strong signal into Waterbury (along I-84) and Meriden (I-91 north of I-691).
